Man keeps standing outside my window...watching me

This has been going on weeks. A dodgy looking man keeps standing outside my flat and looking through my porch window. He paces back and forth. It's creeping me out. Don't feel I can call the police though as he hasn't done anything. I live alone and it's making me uneasy. He seems aimless and has no purpose being around here.

Take a photo. Keep a note. Get a big male friend to pop round?

ThanosSavedMe · 25/09/2018 21:35

Call the police

HowlsMovingBungalow · 25/09/2018 21:35

Phone the police.

twoheaped · 25/09/2018 21:36

I can't think why you wouldn't ring the police Confused

WoogleCone · 25/09/2018 21:36

Call 101 for advice, they may well send a car out

Alwa · 25/09/2018 21:37

Is he looking in all the flats or jus yours?

Feelslikecrystal · 25/09/2018 21:37

Phone the police!!

AhCheeses · 25/09/2018 21:38

Call the non emergency number for the police. They might just get a car to drive past if they're in your area and keep an eye out.
If he's making you feel uneasy, then he's doing something wrong.
You shouldn't have to feel uncomfortable in your own home.

Layoverlife · 25/09/2018 21:39

What are you waiting for?
Call the police! If it was me I wouldn't even think twice Confused

PoptartPoptart · 25/09/2018 21:47

I would shout out of the window at him and ask what the hell he is looking at and threaten to call the police if he ever comes back.
If he doesn’t scarper or does it again then absolutely call the police.

iwearshortshorts · 25/09/2018 21:50

Call the police. You don't feel safe, he's been doing it for weeks. I see no reason why you shouldn't. It's dodgy as fuck.

Feelings · 25/09/2018 21:50

You should probably at least in form the police that someone has been loitering on and off for weeks now and you're feeling uneasy about it. They might not do anything but at least there's incident been recorded.

CoolCarrie · 25/09/2018 21:52

Call the police, don’t doubt yourself, you have a right to feel safe in your own home, not freaked out by a stranger.

LukeSkywalkerBoots · 25/09/2018 21:54

Why would you not call the police?!

BrokenFlipflop · 25/09/2018 21:55

Why haven't you called the police to at least log it with them. Seems odd

TokyoSushi · 25/09/2018 21:58

Why on earth wouldn't you call the police?!

Neptunesgiraffe · 25/09/2018 22:00

Definitely call the police!

MunchMunch · 25/09/2018 22:19

Do you live next to a bus stop, maybe he's absent mindedly looking around and "staring"!into your porch while waiting for the bus?
Or is it more like nose pressed against the window, no mistaking he's looking in at you/your flat?
Do you have curtains or blinds you can close sobuou don't feel so exposed to him? I would definitely call the police.

Crunchymum · 25/09/2018 22:22

Is it every day / night? Always at the same time?

Are you a new tenant?

Are you ground floor? Does the porch look into a communal area or your actual flat?

RunSweatLaughAndLatte · 26/09/2018 07:53

Maybe he's waiting for someone? Do you ever see anyone walking off with him or picking him up in a car?

AdamHi · 26/09/2018 07:54

Definitely inform the Police, if this has been on multiple occasions, you need to be able to feel safe in your home.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/09/2018 08:59

Hi OP, please do ring 101, you don't want this to escalate.
If you have a Dunelm Mills store nearby, you could buy some expandable curtain rods, very easy to put up, no screws involved, and some voiles, that either tie on to the poles, or slide through. Some of them are very pretty and inexpensive, you'll be surprised.
Cover the windows, they won't prevent the light coming through.
Don't be frightened in your own home, inform the Police. 💐

ApolloandDaphne · 26/09/2018 09:01

Of course you can call the police. That is what they are there for.
