If we have virgin TV and we unsubscribe do we still get freebies through the box?

Or do we have to get an aerial fitted?

I assumed the aerial I just wanted to check?

Yes you're correct, you'll need an aerial. When you leave virgin your box and therefore signal is deactivated.

You have to send back all virgin equipment, you only "rent" it from them.

gamerwidow · 25/09/2018 19:20

No you have to send the box back.

KatyMac · 25/09/2018 19:21

Thought so

Bugger! They are putting the price up

Yes you should be able to get freeview through the box.
But they tend to want the box back when you cancel a contract, unlike Sky you don't own the box only rent it.

They may not want it back if its a really old box though. We cancelled the box in one bedroom as we weren't using it and they've told us not to return it.

I dont know if there's a way to buy old Virgin boxes to get the freeview. Try google

When I get the price increase notification I call and ask to end my contract. I always end up getting a freebie or price freeze. Christmas I went on all guns blazing about the 2nd increase in 12 months.... how I was a great customer etc etc.... anyway I got sky cinema free for 12 months, even though the previous increase hadn't affected me. Now that I have posted this, my luck will run out and they'll double the price 😂

ratspeaker · 25/09/2018 19:42

Mind you we may get freeview through the cancelled box as we still have subscription in the other rooms

Hmm complicated

Can I get TV without an aerial?

You can either
A) get a satellite dish installed and use a free sat box
B) get a now tv box or roku box and watch tv via internet isung iplayer itv hub etc.

I think BT have a tv option too but I don’t know how that works.
