Overnight spa break recommendations - North

Hello,

I'd like to take my lovely friend away for a night or two. She's had a rubbish time recently so she deserves a treat.

I'm looking for your recommendations for spas, where we can go and use the facilities, have a couple of treatments, some nice food etc.

Looking at stopping overnight, possibly two, depending on the price, and if it was a coastal place somewhere around Yorkshire /North East, that would be amazing.

Thanks MN Smile

Seaham Hall

Agree with Rockliffe Hall and would also throw Seaham Hall and Ramside Hall in to the mix. I’ve heard good reports about Raithwaite near Whitby too.

Seaham Hall spa is amazing, if not a bit pricy. It is the best spa I have ever been for facilities, treatments and food.

We did a group in deal at Cottons near knutsford which was good value for money

Not Yorkshire/ North East but the Spa at Ribby Hall near Preston is brilliant and you have the option of either staying at the Spa hotel or in the complex itself (it's a bit of a Centre Parcs type of place but the Spa is adults only) www.ribbyhall.co.uk

Ramside is lovely, Rudding Park is amazing. Avoid Linden Hall, hotel rooms are dreadful, we complained last time and were offered a free stay but wouldn't go back even for free!

I don't like the Titanic Spa. There's only one tiny outdoor hot tub and the restaurant bit, which is open to the public, is right in the middle of the spa, so you walk passed fully dressed people eating when moving around the Spa, in your dressing gown.

The Woodland in Burnley is amazing and only an hour from Leeds, lovely food and definitely worth venturing out of Yorkshire to get to.

have heard good reports about Seaham, Rockliffe, Ramside, Feversham, Wynyard Hall.

Had a lovely day spa at Headlam Hall back in January - was quiet in the morning but much busier in the afternoon - luckily our treatments were after lunch so we had good access to facilities in the morning.

Snow on the ground but outside in a jacuzzi and then lying on sun beds wrapped in throws and underneath heat lamps was really great - felt like a Scandinavian child at nursery - all tucked up but breathing in the fresh cold air!

Armathwaite Hall, in Cumbria near Keswick. Also do amazing afternoon tea.

Nightwatch999 · 25/09/2018 20:22

Seaham Hall i can second that, good enough for Take That, England Team and Beyonce!

Wynyard Park, Hall Garth Hotel, Redworth

Wittow · 25/09/2018 20:22

What about the turkish baths in Harrogate? Not a hotel so you'd have to book somewhere separately but they do really fab value packages and it's just been refurbished. Betty's Tea Rooms in Harrogate is also wonderful for afternoon tea.

Sorted. ;)

PS. I wish I had friends who'd treat me to a spa break!

Lostintimeandpace · 25/09/2018 21:17

How much do you want to spend?

AliceRR · 25/09/2018 21:22

Oulton Hall was ok. Nice room and nice spa but I think the pool area was a bit dirty and maybe the food wasn’t great, but can’t remember

Slaley Hall was really nice

The Daffodil at Grasmere is my favourite

The Langdale also in the Lake District was lovely too but small rooms
