I've just shoved a jam sponge up my lady parts.

What the hell are you meant to use when tampons and mooncups are out but you have HEAVY periods and pads are so so not enough?

I bought those sea sponge menstrual sponges from the jam sponge website and am at last giving them a try.

Has anyone else tried them? Or have any suggestions of something else that's good for Periods From Hell?

Jam sponge... as in... a cake??

Confused
Breezebutter · 25/09/2018 17:24

I thought you were going to say an actual cake, would have been an interesting threadGrin sorry no help OP but I’m looking for alternatives to scratchy pads!

OvO · 25/09/2018 17:25

I did explain what it is in my op, Moo!

No cakes were harmed in the making of this post. Grin

I was so hoping you were a cake based sexual fetishist type troll. The trolls round here are so po-faced these days. I was dreaming of pirate sex and utensils for a brief, beautiful moment.

No idea about hellish periods I'm afraid.

TheCrowFromBelow · 25/09/2018 17:26

There is another thread where a poster is offering to crochet tampons?

DowntonCrabby · 25/09/2018 17:28

GrinGrin I knew what you meant, although the thought of someone legs akimbo stuffing a taste the difference Victoria sponge up there is amazing! CakeCakeCake

Anyhoo- I’d love to know how you get on, I love my trusty mooncup but still have to double up with a washable pad overnight on the worst couple of days. Are the sponges supposed to be more absorbent?

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 25/09/2018 17:28

Digressing a lot I saw a news report about a woman who had gone to hospital with a turtle up her vagina last week......

JMAngel1 · 25/09/2018 17:31

This is the funniest thread title ever!

Sadik · 25/09/2018 17:31

Not helpful, but I tried natural sponges and found they leaked badly, & I don't have particularly heavy periods (and can use a mooncup with no problems). But I was hoping to use as a tampon replacement, rather than as a backup to pads, so maybe more useful for that?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 25/09/2018 17:32

I'd prefer a lemon drizzle

BIWI · 25/09/2018 17:33

Ah you see that's where you went wrong, OvO. Should have been a Fondant Fancy.

OvO · 25/09/2018 17:35

I'm sorry to disappoint you, Showy! Wouldn't been an excellent troll thread though, such a missed opportunity. Grin

Downton, I'll let you know how absorbant they are in oooh about an hour? I have a towel down on my sofa just in case!

Crochet tampons are certainly a new one on me, Crow. With hypo allergenic wool I assume. Wink

Can't wait for someone to see your internet history, April!

I don't think Mr Kipling would approve, Biwi!

Aw, I only clicked for the deletion message.

You crack on, my dear, with your shoving.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 25/09/2018 17:38

What about pads plus Thinx knickers?

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/09/2018 17:38

I was going to suggest a langue de chat, but that would be taking the biscuit (and shoving it where the sun doesn't shine)...

OvO · 25/09/2018 17:38

Oh no, Sadik, I was hoping they were the next best thing since sliced bread?

(No I haven't shoved some Warburtons up there either 😂)

OP posts:
OvO · 25/09/2018 17:40

Thinx look very expensive! Shock
But will read reviews to see if they're worth the ££

marvellousnightforamooncup · 25/09/2018 17:40

But if you really require cake based sanpro, I'd propose a madeleine.

QuestionableMouse · 25/09/2018 17:41

I've thought those soft dense baby sponges would be good for this. No idea if it's safe but they hold a lot of liquid.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 25/09/2018 17:41

You can get Thinkx-alike on Amazon cheaper, but I'd read the reviews first because they're not all as good.

BIWI · 25/09/2018 17:43

Ah, but he does make exceedingly good cakes @OvO Wink

AsAProfessionalFekko · 25/09/2018 17:43

I thought it was the wee troll from yesterday back with a new name!

You've put me off Swiss roll for life through.

Sadik · 25/09/2018 17:43

Fingers crossed it'll work better for you than it did for me!

SandAndSea · 25/09/2018 17:44

I could do with a cake now. Cake
