Why?

I mean, until they can load and unload themselves, they're not that Smart, eh!

But they're cheap and efficient and I need a new machine...

ARGGHHHHHH!!Confused

I hope when our washer needs replacing there is still an option to buy a decent machine that is not “smart”.
Like you say, unless it can load and unload, what the hell is the point?
Just a silly gimmick and something else liable to malfunction.

EyeDrops · 26/09/2018 08:36

What exactly is a "smart" washing machine??

MrsWembley · 26/09/2018 09:21

A machine that you can connect to with an app...

Hmm

Waste of time... just use the delay timer.

To be honest I'd go with the best quality I could afford: maybe look at Which or similar. We splashed out on our Miele but 13 years of doing laundry for 6 and it's still going strong. My sister, who always buys cheap, has gone through at least 3 machines in that time.

MrsWembley · 26/09/2018 11:19

Looking at the ones in our price bracket and those with the best ratings are smart ones!

We have a smart washing machine and a smart oven and I haven’t used either of them once! I bought them for the reviews and they are both very good but I’ve just never needed to turn either on/off while I’m out

Ceilingrose · 26/09/2018 11:29

That is a very good point. I've finally given up paying for features I never use.

I have a "smart" tumble dryer. Only because it was the only one I could get there and then at the time and needed one. I can connect to an app apparently and have different drying settings? I've never looked into it. Quite gutted I couldnt just get a high/low heat and go tumble dryer.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 26/09/2018 11:46

My tumble dryer isn't "smart" but I can just tell it how dry I want my clothes (ready to put away or damp to iron for example) and it dries them to that level then stops. It's an AEG and I've had it 12 years.
