Cry Babies Doll

I've bought one of these for my niece's birthday so it is still in the box - there is a "try me" feature that seems to imply that if you insert & remove the attached dummy that the doll will cry but she doesn't! I just wondered if any of you have one of these & could advise me if I'm missing something before I take her back to Argos!

Is there a tab to pull out to make the batteries work?

I can't see one! Obviously I don't want to take her out of the box as it's a gift but equally I don't want to give it if it's not working
