Childfree day in London - WWYD?

Later this week, I have a rare day off work on a day when DS (2) is booked in to nursery. A good friend is leaving the UK soon to work abroad and we are going to spend the day together - I haven't seen her enough since I moved out of London and had DS. We have visited most of the main touristy sites over the years, but are up for anything that's currently on and interesting - from exhibitions to shows to spa days! The only criteria is that it has to be in the daytime rather than evening.

Where would you go, and what would you do?

Choose a different gallery/museum, or somewhere less know - eg a room you've not explored at the British Museum / National, Sir John Soanes Museum, Serpentine.

A fabulous lunch somewhere very grown up and cocktails

My husband and I have a child-free day soon too! We don’t want to do the usual meal out but we can’t think what to do. Following!

Kings Cross regeneration area is great - you could go to the Everyman cinema (sofas instead of usual cinema seats) and get cocktails and lunch at Spiritland (great sound system and music). That’s what I would do!

I always like a mooch round the V&A. The Wallace Collection is also nice, it's up behind Selfridges, also has a lovely glassed in central courtyard with nice Afternoon Tea.
