DD complete change of appetite since being ill

DD has had a stomach bug/flu so obviously she lost her appetite. This was almost two weeks ago.
Now she has started eating again but only very limited. I'm not the best cook and I am starting to feel really stressed as it took quite a while to find/cook different meals she actually liked. She has also started to refuse all vegetables one thing she use to be great with.
At the minute she will only eat chicken, bread and yogurt.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Will she get back to normal?

She's 17 months

Op, it’s still early days. My ds had swine flu when he was 2.5 He went down with it on 23rd Dec and didn’t eat anything until 5th Jan. He was skin & bone but he only ate tiny amounts - a quarter of a slice of bread and 3 raisins was the first meal. It was very scary but you have to give her time. Try offering something very small every hour. And variety too. Try ciabatta - bread but with more calories. Or brioche for breakfast. My ds took 2 months to get back to weight. Please try not to stress too much. Flowers

Forgot to say Ds is now 10 and can eat his own body weight in pizza and fruit, so yes, he’s fine. Smile

Give her what she will eat keep offering her veg but don't stress about her fussy eating she maybe still doesn't feel 100%

Btw she is at that age for fussy eating

Thanks everyone trying not to stress. Whilst I wouldn't normally call her a big eater, she has never been completely off her food before. The food that she has eaten has actually been off other people so also starting to worry it's my food she's had enough of.

I would offer porridge with honey even for dinner until her appetite is back to normal.

I was told little ones can develop a fear of food because they remember it making them sick. Which might explain why she’ll take little bits from other people but finds her own plate of food intimidating. It won’t be your food, it’ll be the freedom to just take a little piece at a time.

My GP said orange juice for constipation and chocolate for appetite when the little ones had been ill, it worked. Chocolate stimulates their appetite apparently. Try some chocolate buttons. Don`t worry if she is being fussy it will pass.
