Had a series of bloods done including FBC. Lots of abnormal results and a request from GP on same day as bloods done to repeat in 1-2 weeks.Anyone know what the abnormal bits mean?

Most of them look close to the normal range apart from one. I have no idea but can imagine you are worried. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along soon. Do you take any medication? I know I have had abnormal results flag before, but which would be expected given the medication I take.

MCH - You're lacking corpuscles MCHC - The corpuscles you do have are healthy. Platelets higher than normal range - not necessarily a bad thing, as it could be caused by an infection, but worth looking into. Haemocrit is a measure of the percentage of red blood cells in relation to the total amount of blood - yours is slightly lower than normal range. Monocytes are cells which are produced when the body us fighting infection. Your reading is very slightly higher than normal range. It looks like you're iron deficient and possibly getting over an infection/suffering from an infection. Take care of yourself and take an iron and vitamin C supplement. Sorry, return button is broken across the site, can't do paragraphs.

Yes I'm on medication but nothing that hasn't been long standing. I've had numerous bloods because of my medical issues and it's never been abnormal and required restest

Thanks for your reply ICantBelieveIDidThis I have been so very very tired of late. Add in the fact I have an underactive thyroid and ME... I thought I was just having a dip. Perhaps iron deficiency/anaemia?

Yes. Iron deficiency. The MCHC reading shows nothing truly sinister is going on. An iron and vitamin C supplement should help. Dark green leafy veg, some lean red meat, lentils and dried fruit are all rich in iron.

Wonder what has caused it as my diet/lifestyle hasn't really changed. We shall see what this week's bloods hold... Perhaps some iron tablets from the GP
