Had a mammogram a week ago & now received a letter asking me to go back for more tests, appt is tomorrow. Anyone know what happens at this appointment? Do they tell you if everything is ok there & then? The letter doesn't give much away tbh

I had a recall after a mammogram at the beginning of the year. The first mammogram was done in the mobile unit, for the next appointment I had another one inside the main hospital in the breast clinic. I saw the nurse first who explained that something had shown up on the right hand side and that's the side they would be redoing. This was done and I waited outside until I was called in to see the consultant. She showed me what she thought were 2 overlapping cysts, that didn't show clearly on the first mammogram, but needed to do a small biopsy to make double sure! It didn't hurt as they numb the area first. She told me that she was certain that they were cysts, but the tissue samples are still sent for testing. I got the results about 2 weeks later confirming her diagnosis.

In the clinic where I go, in my local hospital, they do tell you there and then, their diagnosis and what the next stage will be.

Please remember that the majority of recalls are usually harmless cysts etc!

Hi @wombat thanks for asking - it wasn't great I ended up having a needle aspiration but he seemed pretty confident it wasn't anything sinister so have to go back next Monday to get the results - trying not to Dr Google it or over think it now really

I'll keep my fingers crossed it all turns out ok for you! Please let me know how it goes on Monday? It sounds positive though!
