If you were going to buy your first pair of Doc Martins and you were almost 40

Which pair would you choose?

I’m lusting after these www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/p/11822207 in green but my sensible head is saying that I should get them in brown as they would go with everything I’m likely to wear them with and would be easier to look after.

Decisions!

I've got a silver snakeskin pair, a black velvet pair, red patent pair, purple patent pair , a longer pair in black that fold down at the back, a pair of the shoes in black with a white lace pattern on them and my newest edition which is pink glitter mary jane shoes Grin love every single pair ive got and want more

ToastyFingers · 24/09/2018 23:02

I treated myself to a pair last month in the wanderlust floral pattern. I had to exchange the adult ones for youth ones in the end though as they were so, so huge. There was so much extra material around the ankle I couldn't get them laced up tightly enough and they felt like they would slip off even though I got my usual size. I do have weirdly skinny ankles and feet though.

Which are the softest do you think?
Getting on age wise & comfort is a necessity.
Also, am a size 5. Should I go up, down or stick at a 5?
TIA

MumUnderTheMoon · 24/09/2018 23:40

I love my docs I have four pairs as they are my mums fave thing to buy me for my birthday! Go with the colour you want and then do what I do and keep an eye out in the sales usually summer and Christmas but sometimes the odd offer in between.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 24/09/2018 23:44

Age is irrelevant, I'm 50, have several pairs including the purple chrome.

ChishandFips33 · 25/09/2018 04:48

Chick Mine are all 5s, Pascals and true to size length ways. However my purple ones are tighter across the top but ease with wearing which isn't as often as I'd like

BellMcEnd · 25/09/2018 09:45

I think DMs come up quite big. I’m a 4.5 and buy a 4.

Methe · 25/09/2018 16:56

That’s interesting about the size. I should go and try some on before I order them then. They’re too expensive to be ordering multiple pairs to try on at home.

I measure a size 3 but order 4 for the width and they aren't too big.

WatchingFromTheWings · 26/09/2018 22:31

@BellMcEnd I have those and they're really comfy!!

Firenight · 26/09/2018 22:36

Mine are green and I’m a bit older than you. Love them and wear them with anything. You won’t regret it.

Earslaps · 28/09/2018 12:37

Well my blue ones arrived and they are gorgeous and sooooooo comfortable but I decided the navy is a bit safe so I'm returning them and have ordered cherry red ones instead Grin

MiniCooperLover · 28/09/2018 12:47

I have an Oxblood colour and a Green colour and love them both and I really want the navy ones ❤️

Harleyisme · 28/09/2018 12:57

I love dms and i have all wacky one's i have pink welly ones, burgundy flower ones, turtles ones, multi coloured glitter ones and the multi coloured pride ones.

FaithInfinity · 28/09/2018 13:00

I have purple ones (not chrome) that I’ve owned since 1995. Still polish up nicely! Last Christmas I got these for Christmas and wore them daily until it got too hot! The former took chunks out of my heels until I broke them in but the latter are soft and comfy.

Tattletale · 28/09/2018 13:39

I'm 38 and have just bought my first pair of DM's. They are cherry red and are lovely!

MrsTommyBanks · 28/09/2018 13:44
