Is it me or is it really cold?

The past two days I have felt really, really cold and have been unable to get warm at all. I'm not ill and feel perfectly fine, but I feel chilled to the bone and my toes feel numb. I know it's now Autumn but I don't ever remember feeling this cold in September before. I feel like it's really bitterly cold January day.

I just want the hot weather back!

It's horrible.
I'm in Hampshire. Thermals, thick socks on, heating cranked up and drinking tea.
My hands hurt too.

I think it's just today though. The rest of the week looks dry and bright.

yawning801 · 23/09/2018 13:05

It's cold. But I am ill, so may be biased!

DeathMetalMum · 23/09/2018 13:05

Yes I've been really cold. We've had the heating on yesterday and not too busyhis morning and I have a vest t-shirt and jumper on. I was mistaken yesterday we spent the day at the Zoo, and I only had two layers on underneath my coat and I was freezing all day.

My weather app says I will go down to 3° tomorrow night and be around 5° the rest of the week. It is cold!

Not just you! I Noticed a couple days ago I was suddenly very cold and had to put the heating on for the first time since April! Put flannelette sheets on yesterday and had hot water bottle last night.

yawning801 · 23/09/2018 13:12

And according to ITV weather report it's going to be near enough freezing tomorrow morning! Yay. Hmm

NeverHadANickname · 23/09/2018 13:13

A couple of days ago I still had the fan on through the night. Last night was fan off and extra blanket on. I love that it is getting colder. My birthday is mid September and it is usually cold on my birthday. Maybe it's just because we have had such a long hot summer that people are feeling the cold more.

LanguidLobster · 23/09/2018 13:23

yawning801 me too, I've got anaemia and have been too tired to eat for a few days which is counter productive.

The cold uses up more energy

yawning801 · 23/09/2018 13:28

Languid are you me?! That's exactly what I've been through the past few days. Appetite has absolutely gone, the most I've eaten since Wednesday is a McDonalds (just now). I'm also anaemic and I've been told I can't take my meds on top of paracetamol (ibuprofen is off-limits - asthma) so I'm feeling very sorry for myself!

LanguidLobster · 23/09/2018 13:31

I've got an MN twin Grin

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 23/09/2018 13:35

I've noticed it has been chilly and the nights are definitley cold. Give me this weather any day over the heatwave though. Though the downsides are my kids getting coughs and colds on and off till spring now.

yawning801 · 23/09/2018 13:39

Definitely ! DM, is that you...? How are you MN-ing whilst washing up...?

NatureIs · 23/09/2018 13:43

I've still got the bedroom window open day & night. I'll probably swap the big window for the little window soon as it is getting colder (and north facing) but it's far from winter temperatures here yet (south cambs region). Having soup for lunch though!

LanguidLobster · 23/09/2018 13:47

Actually @yawning801 we'll both have to try to eat something before the end of the day, even if it's a tiny amount. I'll check up on you later!

Peanutbuttershake · 23/09/2018 13:51

Exactly me! Last night we were out and although I was wearing a jumper and trench coat I was still freezing. My hands and feet are always cold and I'm so dreading winter Sad

yawning801 · 23/09/2018 14:31

Languid I stood up long enough to make some cinnamon and sugar dusted spiced muffins - my baking repertoire is feeling the weather! I'm now struggling to eat one - two bites in! They're lovely but very sweet! Make sure you eat something too!

MaisyPops · 23/09/2018 14:33

It's not just you!
I normally run warm ish but am freezing at the moment. All layered up, blankets, not water bottles.
I've just come down with a viral bug though. DH insists it's not that cold.

inlectorecumbit · 23/09/2018 14:34

Nope
I had to scrape my car windscreen at 6am.

Crunchymum · 23/09/2018 14:35

I am fat (and generally run warm) but I've had the heating on the last few days!!

DialsMavis · 23/09/2018 14:35

We dont have the heating on yet and I still have my bedroom window open at night but I am getting under a blanket in the evenings

PoisonousSmurf · 23/09/2018 14:36

I even lit the wood fire last night as it was so chilly!

Givemeallyourcucumber · 23/09/2018 14:40

Yes I am cold too. We have lit the wood burner the last 2 days! My washing isn't drying otherwise. Outside is too wet and inside is too cold.
I moaned all summer about being too hot!

I hate myself for it!

ManicUnicorn · 23/09/2018 16:10

I feel like it's too early for the heating to go on, but if this carries on I'm going to have to put it on. It feels like we've skipped autumn and gone straight to winter. I did wonder if the long hot summer is the reason I'm feeling it more, but we've had hot summers in the past and I don't remember feeling this cold so early. September is usually a lovely month, Ive been to a few September weddings and they've been warm and sunny.

Furries · 23/09/2018 16:39

I really feel the cold. Thanks to a thread around a month ago, I treated myself to a heated fur throw. It arrived this morning and I am now snug and toasty on the sofa with no need for the heating to be switched on.

Bliss!!!

ForalltheSaints · 23/09/2018 16:44

It has been windier and so has felt colder.

LanguidLobster · 23/09/2018 18:32

@yawning801 it made me feel shamed that you managed to eat a bit so promptly Blush but well done. Muffins sound delicious.

I've eaten a small meal now and had my liquid iron multivitamin, already feel better (and not quite so cold!)
