New job but doing ou course

Back ground. I worked on ICU for 5 years but had a work force review and lost my job. I was given a post in an area I have no real interest. The staff are lovely and felt sorry for me. I've been doing an ou course for the last 2 yrs and the 3rd year has just started. I'm already scribbling notes and preparing my first assignment.
There is a new job I'm interested in. It goes live tomorrow. Nursing associate. My problem is , it's a 2 yr course, 1 day a week at uni. I've spoken to people who were in the last intake and it's a lot of work. Should I apply for the job and see if I can defer this yr so early on? Or try and juggle 2 course for 1 yr and defer the ou till this course is done? I may not get the job. I'm crap at interviews otherwise I would still be on ICU. What would you do?

Is there a contact on the job advert that you could call and have an informal conversation about your situation? Sell yourself, say what you would bring to the post but be honest about the commitments you already have?

Or could you talk to your OU tutor if they are in a similar field?

I can speak to the person in charge of advertising the job. I've not got the contact details of my tutor yet. Thank you for the advice.
