I had an episiotomy last Thursday to deliver DS.
Stitches burst Monday. Was terrified of going to to the loo. Stitches then got infected. Dr gave me anti-biotics. Except he didnt -he mis-prescribed me fuckin iron tablets.

I have been on Lactulose since Monday. I took the initial dose then the maintenance each day. However this morning I took the initial dose again (45ml) because i hadnt been for 3 days and I was getting cared again
I now have cramps and it is v watery. How bad is it going to be?!?!

Lactiloae is just a stool softener so it shouldnt have a crazy effect. Might be watery cause you're really backed up! You maybe need something stronger?

How on earth did the doctor prescribe iron tablets instead of antibiotics 🤯

Mississippilessly · 22/09/2018 21:56

jomalone i have no idea. I am going to complain (once I can get off the toilet!)

I have no idea about the episiotomy side of things, but I have taken wayyy over the 'recommended' amount of laxatives before and it's never been that bad. Not bad enough to discourage me from doing it again, anyway.

Expect some stomach cramps, urgency and watery poop, but I've never had severe pain or anything.

You should definitely complain about the doctor, I hope things are better for you soon!

Hopefully not too bad. If there becomes a strain on your stitches use a wet maternity towel to hold against them. Also drink lots of water. Good luck.

I just farted like a bellows. Its not picolax. You'll be fine albeit windy.

abbsisspartacus · 22/09/2018 22:20

Hopefully the waterness will push the main amount out

ButAIBUtho · 22/09/2018 22:39

Lactulose is just like sugar water. You'll be fine.

How the doctor prescribed iron instead of AB's is beyond me.

Are you sure you didn't just pick up and old prescription at the pharmacy and your antibiotics hadn't been made up/gone through yet?

Mississippilessly · 22/09/2018 22:50

But yes I am sure. I have never been on iron tablets. The prescription is for ferrous sulphate. He fucked up.
