Thinking of getting one in the black Friday deals week.
We already have dots, fire TV, kindle, fires etc.
Where does yours live? Is it fantastic?

I've got 4 one for each main room - mainly used for chatting and occasionally watching a film.

Posted too soon...I think they're the bees knees and wouldn't be without it - of all the Amazon gadgets it's the best imo.

gaggiagirl · 22/09/2018 20:31

The reviews are great and Amazon have just released a 2nd generation one which looks great.
I was hoping to be able to wall mount it but it looks a bit too bulky for that.

There's no fixing on the back of the ones I have to fix them to the wall and they are a little bulky - maybe a shelf if these 2nd gen are the same?

One of the main reasons I have them is for peace of mind - I live alone and being as I'm no spring chicken it's nice to have a gadget to yell at to call help if I find should myself sprawled at the bottom of the stairs.

What other cool benefits does it have?
I might get a little shelf for it sugar the new ones look bulky at the back too.
I've got many a windowsill it can sit on but the sunlight might not be good for it

I have the big rectangle one. It lives in the kitchen.

I mostly use it for the radio and the news headlines while I’m cooking. I got mine in the prime day deal so it was half price.

gaggiagirl · 23/09/2018 09:16

Ooh my kitchen could house it! I know just the place.
I imagine that the 1st Gen ones will be greatly discounted soon.

Ours lives in the kitchen - it has revolutionised shopping lists Grin - greta for radio - hands free volume control - recipes. DH got it for just over £100 from QVC, and we've added light controls so we can switch all of the downstairs lights off with one voice command.

I spent ages saying I could not see the point of Alexa et al, but I am a complete convert.

I find the shopping list function invaluable.
I can use the last of the flour and just say i want some on the shopping list and I never forget an item now. Love it.
