I need some house-moving mojo

We move in 13 days time. This house is a bombsite - we knew we'd be here temporarily so it's a mess of half-unpacked boxes and dismantled furniture, plus it's in need of a really good clean.

The next house will have more space but I still want to get things more organised and clean to move. Just feel like I don't know where to start.

Any moving pros willing to give away their top secrets?

Start with your books, then kitchen equipment that is not regularly used. Bedrooms focus on packing summer clothes (you can get boxes with rails in from Amazon). Pack spare linen( leave only 2 spares per bed out) , soft toys and soft furnishings such as throws and scatter cushions (get vacuum bags for these).
Ask local shops for boxes to pack with. Don’t bother cleaning as you go, do it all at the end.

Pick a spot. Be it a bookcase, a shelf, a drawer. Bitesized. Pick up everything in that spot. Do you need it to hand in the next 13 days? Can you do without it til the new house? Box everything you can.

Get packers. Seriously. It’s the best money we spent on our last move. Was only a couple of hundred extra on top of the movers standard service. It was brilliant - they came the day before the move, packed and loaded everything except the beds and our overnight bags and then came first thing in the morning to collect those. We cleaned the empty rooms that night and the bedroom and kitchen once the house was completely empty in the
morning. So easy. But of course you could get cleaners in to do that but too if you wanted.

Good plans all, thank you. We have very little furniture so will be camping in the house a bit until we get sorted, but means we don't really need movers. Might get a van.

My new house is going to be tidier is it fuck
