Job dilema

Help me wise mumsnetters. I handed in my notice for my job and have two months to find something else. I have therefore been applying for loads of jobs and have three interviews lined up, two this week and one on the 8th of October.

The problem is, out of all the jobs, I really really want the 8th of October one. BUT if I get offered one of the two this week I don’t want to turn them down and then not get the October one.

Is it wrong to accept a job knowing that I may get offered another job in a couple of weeks and if I do I won’t be taking the first job? I don’t want to mess people around but I can’t afford to turn a job down and then not get the 8th of October job.

Help!

Will they want an answer straight away? Usually there is an acceptance period because they fully understand that people are going for more than one job.

They will have a list of people to work down, if you, or another person, turns it down. So it's fine to accept, then decline.

They will not be surprised that you are considering other offers, so you can ask for time to decide, and make sure you give yourself enough time when you tell them when you can decide. Your interview may be on a particular date, you wont necessarily hear that same date whether you have got that one.

Great position to be in, enjoy. Remember its about finding out whether you are a good match for each other. If they don't want you, they wont deserve to get you. I've had interviews for jobs I thought would be brilliant, that were duds, and others i only went to because i had nothing else planned, which turned out to be great. Don't rule them out, listen to what they have to say with an open mind. All the best.
