Nectar points sainsbury, regressing? Anyone?

So for instance we use a voucher and get bonus points and my balance says, £50.

Then I shop again and it might say £49?

Normally all points just creep up incrementally. It's never gone back before.

Dh spoke to them and they said bonus points can take 3 weeks to go on?
Is this correct!

I can't make head or tail of it to be honest. Just before the revamp when they had a double up offer I went to redeem points and had little or nothing after years of shopping. I argued the toss but of course, in store, they just say it was a separate company and they couldn't do anything. A few months later after hardly shopping with them at all, I apparently have something like £12 worth of points. They must've been in hibernation Hmm

Gramgram · 22/09/2018 22:01

I ended up with negative points on one occasion! Turned out that when I had a bonus points voucher for 400 points they took 4000 points from me. I wasn't impressed, after talking to Nectar they eventually agreed with me and refunded the points but only after I mentioned Mumsnet.

Enrique they just say it’s a separate company

Sainsbury’s bought Nectar in February this year for £60milliom.

I had an issue where it said I had used 8k points but I hadn't.
Sainsbury's and Nectar each just kept telling me to talk to the other. In the end I joined them together on a Twitter thing and told them to talk to each other and got it credited back but it took ages.

Recently at work we noticed we had £365 worth of points. Considering we spend about £60 every three months on biscuits and have only had the card linked for a year it seemed a bit unlikely, and there was no corresponding credit in the statement. Nectar could not tell us where it came from, but also just kept saying it was ours. So, next six orders of biscuits at work are free. Yay! Confused

The bonus points might show up on the initial receipt (when you earned the points), but it can take up to four weeks for them to actually be validated and appear on your Nectar account. So you can’t see those points at the moment, but they will be added to your account. Check online in a few weeks if you want to be certain.

I kind of give up on nectar points I always used to save them up and get a chunk off my shopping at christmas. Nowadays I only ever have about £2.50Confused

VanGoghsDog · 23/09/2018 00:12

I had loads with my Amex Nectar, it had a great intro bonus, then they messed up and I complained and they gave me 5k points compensation. Then 10k points appeared from nowhere.....
So I've bought loads with points in the past. But agree they're a bit rubbish now
I've given up the Amex before the annual fee came in.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 24/09/2018 17:29

@goingttotown Yes, I wasn't very clear in what I wrote compared to what I was thinking. When they said separate companies it was before what I called the 'revamp' after the change of business.

Horsemad · 24/09/2018 18:31

Just asking, what do you all use your points for and how do you redeem them? I don't have many (about £30 worth) but think I may as well spend them...

EmpressJewel · 24/09/2018 18:39

I currently have £10 in nectar points. I save them up and put them towards a OH a game for his PS4 which comes out in November.

EmpressJewel · 24/09/2018 18:42

Sorry.... I meant I put them towards a game for OH for his PlayStation 4. I don't shop in Sainsbury's much, so I am lucky I even get £10.

Oblomov18 · 24/09/2018 18:48

Main shop in Sainsbury's. Save up all year and redeem £80-£100 on our Christmas shop.

Horsemad · 24/09/2018 22:23

Can I just go in with my Nectar card and use it to pay for goods from Sainsbury's?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 24/09/2018 22:27

I love nectar points. I had about £200 worth last year... saved it all for double up and had a great hour with my kids buying Christmas decorations, toys and Prosecco Grin

birdladyfromhomealone · 24/09/2018 22:28

Do they ever do the double points day to redeem in Sainsbury any more?I remember I had £40 of points and redeemed them for £80 on Tu clothes but that was a few years ago

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 29/10/2018 19:46

Double Up is Coming Up. I just had an email.

Crunchymum · 29/10/2018 20:20

I noticed this today. Had £75+ when I stopped this morning and just £73 when I went in this evening?

Crunchymum · 29/10/2018 20:21

Stopped = shopped

biffyboom · 29/10/2018 20:26

Double up is in November, can't remember the exact dates, but I save my points just for that promotion, think I've got £100 worth if points to spend.

ILoveToLaugh · 29/10/2018 20:41

I'm on the Isle of Wight where in the spring they trialled their new Nectar (had to download app, choose offers (not petrol), far too complicated and time consuming for me when I just want to pitch up, grab bits and get out) so I didn't sign up. It is said that take up here wasn't good but they would roll out the new version nationwide eventually. Is it happening now?
