How do you get glass shower doors to look clean?

I've only ever had a shower over the bath with curtain but now have an ensuite with glass doors round the shower. We live in a hard water area and the water marks are stubborn. I'm struggling to get the glass looking clean & it's driving me round the bend. What's the solution? Please help!

Another vote for squeegees and e-cloths. No other products needed.

It's not a faff to squeegee after each shower, it takes less than a minute. Far less time than you will spend scrubbing away a limescale build up!

Was going to say the same as a few others. If you wipe the glass down with one of those plastic/rubber window scrapers (what on Earth are they called?) every time you use the shower then it will make it tens times easier to get any other water marks off with cleaning products. Once you get into the routine of using the scraper it just becomes second nature.

Yep, viakal and a swiper thing.

Embarrassingly, my mate house sat for us a while back and cleaned my shower. I genuinely thought the glass was meant to be a bit frosted. She sent me this pic while we were away. Blush

Honestly op, I live in a very hard water area and this stuff is amazing, just spray it on, rub it in with a damp cloth and leave it for 10 mins then rinse off. I find the Cilit Bang a bit rubbish on glass but it's great as a general bathroom cleaner

We live in a very hard water area. My shower is 9 years old and still looks as sparkly as the day it was installed. In all that time, I have never used any cleaning products on the doors or taps.

All that I do is meticulously dry the doors, handle and taps after every use, using a squeegee and a towel. It sounds time consuming but it really isn't. I timed myself and it takes just over 60 seconds to do.

One big advantage that I have is that I'm the only user. If your shower is shared, you'll need to ensure that all the users (or the last user each day if several people are using one after another) agree to cooperate!

We use a squeegee after every shower and twice a week I spray Method bathroom cleaner on and use an Ikea dishwasher pad to give it a good clean and leave a fresh scent. (The sort with soft on one side and rougher on the other)

Rosie The link won't work for me. What's it called please?

EnidButton · 22/09/2018 11:29

Rosie Got it now, thank you!

Roxetta · 22/09/2018 15:02

Thanks for all the suggestions. Going to try the squeegee and microfibres cloth to dry. Bought some Viokal to get rid of the water marks initially. Can't wait to have it looking nice again 🙏🏼

I refuse to use the small dribbly shower in the ensuite so rarely venture in there. I once kindly attacked it with Cillit Bang and a scourer. I'd forgotten that it is clear not frosted glass Blush

Proseccoagain · 22/09/2018 23:00

I use Sainsbury's Limescale remover spray on the glass while I'm actually in the shower, rub over with a sponge and then use the shower to hose down and rinse off.

LondonLassInTheCountry · 23/09/2018 22:28

White vinegar in a spray bottle.

Savers do it for a pound...

Amazing stuff

hamburgers · 23/09/2018 22:30

The only thing that has worked for me is white wine vinegar. Viakal did fuck all for our hard water stains as well as other limes ale removers!

*limescale!!
