Dry unruly curly hair

I have long brown very curly hair, but it never goes smooth its always frizzy. If I use serum on it then my hair looks greasy and the curly girl method doesn't help. Any tips for great looking curly hair?

Have you tried an afro-Caribbean beauty shop? They sell lots of products especially for curly dry hair. I have very curly hair and have a huge pot of deep conditioner that does a good job of reversing the damage I’ve done bleaching it.

The trick is using shampoo/conditioner which suits your hair - try different ones. Something moisturising.
The out leave in conditioner/serum in whilst wet. Never brush when dry or out of the shower. Try different curl products - I like bed head. Sometimes I just use serums/cremes, sometimes I need to put some curl gel or similar in so it stays curly and doesn't go frizzy. Lots of experimenting!

Yes I only brush when really wet, I used to use sls free shampoo but cant seem to find any about now.

Mine is similar. The trick is to use less serum than you think. This time of year is a nightmare because of the damp and drizzle.

I use frizzease and recently bought the shampoo, not believing it would make any difference but it did. I was really surprised.

Lots of conditioner! I use Yes to Carrots shampoo and Cantu hair mask as a conditioner. Then I put a leave in conditioner on and let it dry naturally (I'm currently using Noughty intensive care).

Since working this out my curls looks loads better and the frizz is kept under control. I've never got on well with serums, like you it just looked greasy (and still frizzy!). It takes a bit of experimenting but once you find the products that work, it's great.

If you have western hair try the Aussie range

I tried the curly girl method but it left my hair greasy so gave up. I use Aussie miracle moist shampoo and conditioner and then leave in conditioner and to style curl cream (currently trying boots own) or I love Redkin curvaceous ringlet (but quite expensive) sometimes I use curl jelly mixed in with leave in conditioner.
A good cut is really worth it - find a hairdresser who is really good with curly hair. Find a recommendation - don’t just ask a salon (they tend to say all of their hairdressers are good with curly hair and that is never true!)

Avoid silicones. They're not good for curly hair and can leave it sticky.

Wet hair in the morning, towel wrap whilst cleansing face (to give you an idea of how long to leave it), add thickest conditioner you can find. Perfect curls all day. Mine is extremely curly. Can’t remember the last time i washed it.
