Half an hour ago I put some chips in the oven, whilst me and DD(23) reminisce and search on YouTube for children's telly songs. There we are in full swing of Bear in The Big Blue House goodbye song, Disney's Out of the Box and 64 Zoo Lane and I say, 'are my chips ready yet?' But no! Are they fuck. I open the oven and they aren't there because I got them out of the freezer and switch the oven on, but forgot to put the two actions together!!

Bollocks! The chips are still frozen and I'm still bleedin hungry! Still, I've had a great hour with DD singing at the top of our voices! Grin

LOVED BITBBH
I still sing the shadow song. But with child’s name (I have younger kids now too- I don’t sing my 18/21 year olds names to that song, honest!)

Get a takeaway and drink some more, and carry on having fun together is my advice, but I have always been a bad influence Smile

Clutterfreeintraining · 21/09/2018 22:39

Hang on! Dd is 23?! I remember when she started comp Shock

RandomMess · 21/09/2018 22:43

ShockShockShockShockShockShockShock

How is she 23!!!!

I mean when did that happen...

MaureenMLove · 21/09/2018 22:44

We've had a great time singing and remembering. I'm a tad confused though, because I was a childminder when she was little, so some of my memories are not about her!

We'd forgotten we knew all the words to stuff. Until we started singing, we had forgotten that Georgina was the tallest of all! Grin

Aw, I miss those days. We thought is was tough then, but really, it was far easier! At least you knew where they were all the time, because they never went anywhere without you! Mines off to New York in a couple of weeks and this evening was a rare treat. She normal stays at the boyfriends, but he's away with his mates for the weekend.

Tomorrow night she will be home too and we will be watching Sleepless In Seattle. Apparently she hasn't seen it. I feel like I've failed as a parent! I made sure she watched Top Gun and St Elmos Fire etc, but I just assumed that she'd have seen all Tom Hanks films, but I guess not! We need to do You've Got Mail too! I hope she remembers seeing Big!

Aw, a drunk Friday night thread with MaureenMLove. This takes me right back to the olden days when my daughter was a baby and husband was in Afghanistan.

cinders15 · 21/09/2018 23:47

Aw!! Maureen - take it when you can!! Mine was here with her boyfriend for a few days and we watched films and had takeaway - films that her boyfriend hadn't seen - bless her - she said he hadn't been brought up right!! Absolute classics and ended with Paddington! I loved it!!

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 21/09/2018 23:50

God, the " Look at you now" song from BITBBH still has me in tears!.

I remember when we were house-hunting discussing with DH how much we thought the Big Blue house would be worth!!

MaureenMLove · 22/09/2018 22:28

Tonight there has been no drink, didn't fancy it. DD is drinking G&T though. We tried to watch Sleepless in Seattle, but the Virgin box is playing around, so we watched Strictly instead.

We are now having a lesson in crochet, after she had set me up an Etsy shop! I'm not gonna lie, she's gonna need a lot of practiceGrin. Classic line for her, through fits of laughter, 'how can you say this is relaxing??? It makes me want to stab somebody!!' Grin. Hilarious!

Watching Die Hard 2 (which she hasn't seen!Hmm) and starting to get the hang of crochet. In the length of time I've typed this, she's done 3 double crochets! Grin

Aw, I was just wondering about Sleepless in Seattle - shame you didn’t get to watch it but sounds like you’re both having a fun evening Smile I’ve given up trying to teach others to crochet (because I’m s shit teacher and lack patience) - I just direct them to YouTube Grin
