Just wondering what some people are like really. Whether different or the same as they come across.

Yes, I live in an area where a number of well known, famous people/celebrities live. I see them occasionally, but they keep themselves to themselves on the whole. I can count about a dozen well-known people who live within a mile or two of me.

About 30 years ago I had a brief romantic liaison a few shags with someone just before he gained pop stardom.
He was gorgeous, nice and good fun, but jeez he really really loved himself. And that was before the fame!

Sorry to go off thread, but I am so excited that there's a new Cormoran Strike novel - it had snuck past me unnoticed. Just ordered it. Thank you!!!!

On topic, I know a sports pundit. He's fabulous and laughs at himself whenever anyone criticizes him on Twitter.

My teenage boyfriend is now pretty famous. He always comes up in the threads of weird people to have a crush on and people always say he seems so geeky and funny. He photographed me giving him head and posted it to my dad at his workplace. He’s so dorky and cute though!

OlennasWimple · 21/09/2018 21:11

I've met a lot of politicians (not friends with, necessarily, but met) and the vast majority are decent people who went into politics for all the right reasons

I've got lots of famous friends-of-friends, but all the ones I've met at weddings, parties, BBQs etc have been lovely and quite quiet. But then I guess if I wouldn't be friends with the Katie Price in her wild days type of sleb, I guess my friends wouldn't either IYSWIM

My ex husband (1977 - 1989) was a reasonably well known rock guitarist. He was a really nice bloke when I met him but gradually became a complete twat...couldn't blame him really, there was a lot of stuff offered to him on a plate and his resolve to resist got slowly eroded!

Hairytangerine · 21/09/2018 21:13

My ndn used to be in a northern soap. Now a film director overseas. Everyone recognises him. Very nice family

Not good friends but a football manager and cricket player had children at the same school that DS went to, so saw them regularly.

Our neighbour is an international rugby player. We live in a tiny house on some land that he sold off to developers, so when I say neighbour, our little garden backs on to the very bottom of his large grounds Grin

One of my best friends is a very well known singer. She's an incredible person with an amazing voice.

I once had a landlord who was a well known sports presenter. He was a complete and utter twonk. His wife wasn't much better.

Rebecca36 · 21/09/2018 21:18

Yes, one I know very well indeed and a couple of others I know less well, through knowing the first one.

Just the same as they come across.

I am ashamed to admit that my sister lived with the prime minister's brother for a few years. She was just an MP then.

Pretty sure the PM is an only child?

Twillow · 21/09/2018 21:20

@WhenIWasAYoungWarthog that is very far from cute - what on earth did your dad say?

Firsttimer1234 · 21/09/2018 21:21

I'm friends with a footballer. Premier league and England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Maybe not the current prime minister ?

BikeRunSki · 21/09/2018 21:23

One of my best friend’s at school was Michael Rosen’s niece. We went to his for tea/hang out after school pretty often.

LaBelleSausage · 21/09/2018 21:23

I’m friends with a tv presenter/model who is vastly more intelligent than anyone would like to give her credit for. I assume it’s jealousy and people assuming she can’t be beautiful and clever

WhenIWasAYoungWarthog · 21/09/2018 21:24

twillow my dad was understandably furious with him. My dad was a teacher at a school (not the one I attended thankfully) and it was put in his pigeonhole. He went to the police but there was no way of proving it was actually my boyfriend either in the photograph or the one who had sent it. This was way before all the revenge porn laws so nothing could be done. One day his mask will slip though and I hope people see what a couple cunt that man is.

SevenOf1981 · 21/09/2018 21:26

My NDN is an Olympic gold medallist. She's so lovely and friendly!

Figlessfig · 21/09/2018 21:30

I had sex with a member of the House of Lords when his wife was in hospital giving birth ( which detail I only found out after the fact).

I should mention it was long before he was elevated to the Peerage.

xlexiix · 21/09/2018 21:32

My sister in law is a producer on a famous reality TV show about music and as such I have become close friends with the main members of the show after many years hanging about with them. We do dinner drinks etc regularly and most of them are lovely people. She also dated for a long time a member of a boy band he was an actual jerk in real life... My brother in law plays for a football club as well and obviously we all share the same surname I am unable to go anywhere without the ooh are you related to X or Y it has gotten old fast lol

How many PMs have there been who could be called "she"?

HollowTalk · 21/09/2018 21:35

Blimey, @WhenIWasAYoungWarthog - that's incredibly abusive.

liverbird79 · 21/09/2018 21:36

Waiting to see if any of my friends pop up hahahahaha

Echobelly · 21/09/2018 21:38

Parents are friends with an ex-politician who was seriously, seriously reviled in his political career, but is much better liked in his subsequent telly presenting job.

He was often portrayed as aloof, arrogant etc and he's really not that way at all.
