Hello 😃
I would love to hear from any pharmacists or anyone studying pharmacy?
I am thinking of applying. I have A levels in biology, chemistry and psychology and have worked in healthcare for a while.
I just want to know if you enjoyed the course please and if you feel it is a good career to get into?

Thank you x

I would very much recommend it as a course and as a career. There are many different opportunities depending on which sector you wish to work in (community pharmacy/hospital/primary care/GP/Industry etc.) Once qualified, part time working is easy to find and shift work/unsocial hours are rare. You can choose a role depending on how much patient contact you would like. Feel free to PM me with any questions x x x

Thank you very much pointless! I’m really pleased you recommend it 😃 have you worked as a pharmacist for long? I have just been offered a job in hospital as a pharmacy assistant, but hope to apply next year. Xx

Over 10 years now! Great idea to get some hospital experience before applying. Competition for pre-registration jobs (the 5th year before you are qualified) is tough at the moment and any practical experience working in a pharmacy will really help. Good Luck!

@crystalblue13 I’m also a pharmacist with over 10 years experience.
Definitely research the job and make sure it’s what you really want to do as it’s a long, intense 5 years of studying and training.
It’s a great job to do, especially with so many different roles opening up to pharmacists. From my point of view as a working mother, the job enables me to work part time and still earn good money, so I find I have a good work life balance. However, it can be stressful as you do have people’s lives in your hands!
I’m also happy to chat over private message if you want Smile

Thanks pointless that’s great! Do you work in hospital or community? I’ve heard it is a tough course but I’m sure it’s what I want to do.

Hi comfy thank you very much for your reply! I am also a mother and want a family friendly career but have always been interested in healthcare. I have heard it’s a hard course but hopefully I’ll be able to do it!
