My daughter and her mooncup

My eldest has just got a menstrual cup. I am receiving hourly text updates about how it's going, in addition to regular run downs when she's at home.

She came in my bedroom and started dancing about saying what a weird sensation it was having something up there, and this morning announced that taking it out was a bit like giving birth. She thinks it's a bit weird to be having 'a rummage around' to get it out, but it's all a rather exciting adventure.

I don't use one, and in all honesty I'm not really sure she's selling the idea, but I've just had the sixth text today saying "My vagina is a bloody miracle vice. How's it keeping it in so well?" And I can't stop laughing.

Sorry, sure what?

I think I'll invest in one when I'm no longer pregnant. Only hear good things from users. Your daughter is kinda selling it to me!

FaintyMcFainterton · 21/09/2018 15:07

That sounds JUST like the kind of conversation I have with my daughter.

Oh no, hang on. It really fucking doesn't.

Anastassiabeaverhausen · 21/09/2018 15:15

I don't know what above posters problems are op. Your daughter sounds funny and I hope if I ever have daughters they'll be as open with me.

8Days, you think? I'm just amused by her excitement really. It's like I've bought her new jewellery or something.

Oh, I see, I'm being suspected of trolling, am I? Nope, genuine couple of days with a late teen daughter who is inexplicably thrilled at having a period right now.

I'm glad she's getting on with it. Long term she'll save loads of money.

FloralBunting · 21/09/2018 15:20

PerspicaciaTick, as she still relies on me to buy the stuff, I'm the one saving the money, but yes, that was her big argument for me to buy one for her.

I have 2 DSs. I will never know the joy and hilarity of having a DD that overshares about mooncups. Sad

OakElmAsh · 21/09/2018 15:21

ah that made me smile, she sounds lovely & funny :D

Trishtashtosh · 21/09/2018 15:22

Sounds like a positive sharing experience!

Mine once sort of twisted inside of me (I think I must have inserted it badly) and it sort of "sprung" leading my entire body to contort in one movement. Thank god I was at home. Very odd!

JaneJeffer · 21/09/2018 15:22

Sparklingbrook maybe you'll be lucky enough to have an over-sharing DIL in future

titchy · 21/09/2018 15:25

Have any of her texts said 'Hey mum tell everyone on MN what I'm texting you'?

Sparklingbrook · 21/09/2018 15:26

Aww, I hope so Jane or maybe a granddaughter? Grin

I have never tried a mooncup but they are definitely not for me.

PavlovaFaith · 21/09/2018 15:26

Erm. Okay.

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/09/2018 15:27

I can imagine Dd saying similar to me but she fucking kill me if I posted it on here.

Seekingunderstanding · 21/09/2018 15:28

Ah that's lovely Smile. I hope 5 year old dd is that open with me when she is teen.

I use a moon cup myself....they'really brilliant. Actually dd is already fascinated by it Grin.

Seriously? A quick search would shown you a very extensive posting history.

FloralBunting · 21/09/2018 15:30

Loving the suspicious MN stuff. She's fine with me sharing. She's giddy with it and we both thought it might make some MNers laugh.

Honestly! Some of the commenters on here?! Hmm

I also think it’s great she is open and shares this. I hope to have the same relationship with any daughters I have. If she is open about the good stuff she is more likely to be open about the stuff that is out of the ordinary and you can help her with whatever it is.

Rebecca36 · 21/09/2018 15:39

I think your daughter sounds wonderful! She is so funny.

mothertominibeasts · 21/09/2018 15:41

It's good that she can share this experience with you. As a teenager I didn't share period info with my mum and certainly didn't consider it exciting. At 40 I still wouldn't share it with my mum, but then I put a stop to my periods at 18 so that's how much I hated the 'experience'

The bit that made me go a bit 'huh' was.....
She came in my bedroom and started dancing about saying what a weird sensation it was having something up there, and this morning announced that taking it out was a bit like giving birth. She thinks it's a bit weird to be having 'a rummage around' to get it out, but it's all a rather exciting adventure.

FloralBunting · 21/09/2018 15:43

What can I say, that's what she did. I suggested last night that if it felt weird it probably wasn't in properly because I don't think you're supposed to feel them.
