Present for new nephew

I have just become an Auntie for the first time and am completely giddy and besotted obviously want to buy a present for my gorgeous new nephew. Trouble is, I'm stumped for ideas! Usually with friend's babies, I've bought some clothes and a soft toy, but as this is my nephew I want to give him something a bit more special; plus as he lives in the southern hemisphere it makes it a bit trickier to buy clothes (I don't want to buy him the woolly jumpers that are in the shops here at the moment when it's coming in to his summer!)

I'm going to visit them in a couple of months, so I don't need to keep the present very light for postage as I can bring it with me. Budget about £100. Any suggestions? Thank you so much.

When my nephew was born I made up a hamper - if you have a little bit of time could you get a personalised onesie/outfit? I love those old-fashioned silver money boxes too, and you can get them engraved.

I used a gift box with no lid, put a few soft toys, some quirky clothes and a money box for him engraved from 'Auntie ... ' so as he gets older he knows its from me. I give him change whenever I see him (he's now 2) and it goes in his money box.

Congratulations by the way! I adore being an Auntie. Bet you can't wait to visit! x

A personalised picture? Something with his name on to hang on the wall could be lovely - maybe a local artist does them? Or try etsy?

@TheMagicTorch I was planning on a lovely keepsake piece of jewellery had the baby been a girl. Boys are much harder, I think! I like the idea of a silver money box, but don't think that's the kind of thing his parents are into. (Might still get him one, though!) I'm currently thinking of the illustrated Harry Potter books, as his mum and I are both big Harry Potter geeks!

But yes, you're right, I want to visit RIGHT NOW!
