Are you planning on watching Eugenie’s Wedding?

I don’t consider myself a royalist but to my surprise I am quite interested in watching her wedding, I suppose it is really just about the occasion and the guests outfits (all the superficial fun stuff). I am not in the UK and was surprised to find out the BBC are not going to broadcast it. Is ITV planning on it? I know the York Princesses have had so much grief and criticism but when I have heard Eugenie speak I find her quite a modest, intelligent young woman. Anyway aren’t the taxpayers paying for all of the security so therefore have a right to have a nose at what the RF and bridesmaids are wearing? I do think the carriage ride through Windsor is a mistake, I hate to think of the bride and groom humilated with no great crowds to greet them which I think pretty likely. Prince Andrew does seem delusion about the place of his daughters in British society compared to the Royal Princes.

No.

The entire family are a waste of space, but Eugenie and Co. especially so.

A grandmother who is a manufactured head of a Christian Church, propagates grandchildren who soak up countless pounds.

dinosaurkisses · 20/09/2018 16:31

Nope.

I’m interested in the fashion that’ll be worn, but the Daily Mail Sidebar of Shame and the Royal Style thread on MN Style and Beauty can help me with that!

evilharpy · 20/09/2018 16:32

Not interested in watching. But I will be looking on the internet later to see what all the guests were wearing.

I haven't any interest in watching it; but even if I had, it's on a Friday, so I will be at work.

If they'd wanted huge crowds, wouldn't they have chosen a Saturday?

Movablefeast · 20/09/2018 16:38

Didn’t realize it was on a Friday! That certainly seems a mistake if they want the plebs there.

No. The Yorks need to get it into their heads that they are only minor royals and no one gives a shit about them. Boy are they in for a short, sharp shock when The Queen dies, because Charles intends to slim down the Royal family.

vandrew4 · 20/09/2018 16:49

I'd so love it if there were no crowds at all as they do their ridiculous procession.

Xiaoxiong · 20/09/2018 16:51

No. And because they've decided to do it on a Friday, it has the potential to massively fuck up our school runs unless the roads are only closed in the middle of the day.

I don't really understand why they want a carriage ride down the high street, they could easily have one out of the castle down the Long Walk to Royal Lodge without having to close any roads. I didn't mind so much with Harry & Megan because it was on a Saturday but on a Friday it's extremely annoying.

diddl · 20/09/2018 16:57

I'm interested to see her dress & what Beatrice & Fergie wear.

"Prince Andrew does seem delusion about the place of his daughters in British society compared to the Royal Princes."

I agree-atm they are all HM's GC although of course if Charles ever takes over W&H will be the the King's sons.

If William is ever King, he may end up sidelineing Harry for the sake of his own three kids.

B & E do seem to have been a bit hamstrung by their titles & royal status.

Zara & Peter seem to have it pretty good.

Access to the lifestyle & seemingly no restrictions on what they can do!

Movablefeast · 20/09/2018 17:12

You get the impression that Charles has already tried to make it clear what the future holds but that Andrew, being apparently the Queen’s favourite has continued to try and put the girls in the same bracket as the Princes in terms of status and importance. The fact they are not “working royals” says it all though, that was clearly a decision from the boss.

I imagine Harry is pretty realistic that he will be a historic “also ran” in terms of the royal line but he will hardly be suffering! I think he and Meghan will chart a course with a different emphasis. I think it’s a smart PR move by the Queen to deploy them to the Commonwealth and keep those countries on side. Whatever the Daily Mail has to say about Meghan I do think it means she and Harry have a different image and a more modern less hidebound need to continue with traditions. Beatrice and Eugenie are in a predicament because their father refused to move with the times and see the writing on the wall, now they are open to ridicule when the decision to make them Princesses was not theirs to make.

Princess Anne clearly saw the outcome for “minor Royals” and wanted her kids off the hook.

God, no.

Racecardriver · 20/09/2018 17:14

Lol no. Are they even real royalty? They certainly don't dress like it. Will be having a look at the tabloids to see the monstrosity of a wedding dress though.

kaldefotter · 20/09/2018 17:17

Ha, ha, no. The York offspring have been of no interest at all for at least 2 decades.

Ariclock · 20/09/2018 17:22

No.

Longdistance · 20/09/2018 17:27

No, but I can’t wait for the comedy show the Windsor’s to do their version.

TheDogsMother · 20/09/2018 17:31

I had completely forgotten about it ! It's tomorrow ?

Ktay · 20/09/2018 17:32

Re crowds, you might be surprised - apparently 100,000 people applied for the 1,200 tickets on offer for the grounds.

The carriage procession route is shorter than the Sussexes’, presumably recognising that turnout won’t be on same scale!

Movablefeast · 20/09/2018 17:40

No not until Oct 11th (? I think...) it’s on some of our national websites over here so maybe the Royal PR is working better abroad!

OP posts:
Xiaoxiong · 20/09/2018 17:42

DogsMother no it's in 3 weeks, Friday 12th October. Nothing on the RBWM website yet about security or road closures that I can see.

tectonicplates · 20/09/2018 17:45

How can anyone watch it if it isn't being televised?

yawning801 · 20/09/2018 17:48

I'll have a look online at some pictures, only because I've had the same surgery as her and I'm wondering if she'll show the top of her scar at all (I doubt it!)
