Skiing in Zermatt?

Has anyone been early/mid December? It would be our first ski trip and we know nothing.

Is it worth a visit??

Beautiful and expensive (it is Switzerland). The Matterhorn is stunning. Lots of runs and as it's Switzerland the ski infastructure is excellent. There are no cars except in limited circumstances. Everything is moved about by electric vehicles and the highly efficient railway. A world class ski resort so you should be busy all day. Worth looking at a swiss rail pass if you want days out. But if you are ski-ing then you should concentrate on that.

I'll be honest, it's so incredible but the price of food ruined it for us. We were in a hotel so had to eat out every night and spent most of the week feeling a bit sick at the price of a meal. Think £18 for a basic pizza. I think if it's your first ski trip I would do somewhere less expensive.

I would much rather a French or Italian resort.
