We are renting in a housing association home.
We now require repairs to our flooring due to a leak which wasn't our fault. The maintenance officer who also has a home here told me on the phone that it's not down to me to pay for the cost of repairing which I was very pleased about as we fitted new flooring not too long ago and now cannot afford to repair it.
It's been a couple of weeks since so I spoke to the lady again the other day who informed me that the decision would be made at this week's committee meeting. So now it's a decision rather than a guarantee...
The committee are made up of several of my neighbours here. All voluntary apart from the maintenance officer who is paid. Do my neighbours really have a say in whether the cost of my flooring is funded? Why is it up for discussion with them? My apologies but I'm not too aware of how much authority committee members have.
I have to chase her again and I feel like telling her that I'll ring the housing association co-operative directly instead. I am getting annoyed but I'm not sure if I do actually have any rights to make my annoyance clear...
I will be digging out my tenancy agreement later but for now can anyone shed some light on what I generally should be entitled to etc.?
