Is this infected (slightly gross photo included)

Had a blister appear on the back of my foot on Sunday. It has since popped by itself, but a small area around it has gone red, swollen and hot. My whole foot is throbbing (not overly so, I can still walk and put weight on it). Don't want to waste my doctor's time, any wise mumsnetters on here?

Try a warm salt bath (just for your foot - no need to submerge your whole self..!)?

could you get to a pharmacy? They can usually advise and offer help there and then..

Lostpuzzlepiece · 20/09/2018 11:46

Can't get to a pharmacy till later this evening at least, but will try a warm salt bath :) Thanks

Looks to me like it could well be especially as it feels hot
I would personally make an emergency GP appointment tomorrow in case you need Antibiotics

BillywigSting · 20/09/2018 14:22

Stop asking strangers on the Internet and go and see your gp.

It's literally what they are there for.

GallicosCats · 20/09/2018 14:23

Honestly, I would 'bother' your GP (or practice nurse; they can often prescribe ABs if necessary). Sometimes these things can get nasty.

Stormwhale · 20/09/2018 14:24

I would draw around the red area to watch if it is spreading and pop to see the pharmacist.

OhWotIsItThisTime · 20/09/2018 15:12

Draw around it, slather with antiseptic cream. If it gets worse, go to pharmacist or gp I’d really bad.

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 20/09/2018 15:21

Put magnesium sulfate on to draw out any infection and if no better see nurse or doctor

ShakeVigorously · 20/09/2018 17:48

Definitely go to gp.
This happened to me a few years ago, ended up in hospital on iv antibiotics due to cellulitis. Is the rest of your leg swollen?

Sandstormbrewing · 20/09/2018 17:53

Salt bath, antiseptic cream, circle round it then wait and see. Yes it's infected, but that doesn't mean you need antibiotics.

Lostpuzzlepiece · 20/09/2018 21:01

Thanks for all the replies. My leg isn't swollen, just the general area around it. Have drawn a ring around it, if not better by Saturday will get an emergency GP appointment.

Any better today?

Lostpuzzlepiece · 21/09/2018 21:11

Still much the same really. Hoping lots of rest over the weekend and slathering it with antiseptic cream will help :)
