Suggestions for a decent-tasting shop bought chocolate birthday cake?

My son’s 13th Birthday this weekend. He wants a chocolate cake, NOT home-made because he doesn’t like mine!
He likes Sainsbury’s chocolate fudge cake ( the small ones that cost about £2.75) so something like that, moist and chocolately etc,but big enough for about 10.

Tell me your favourites!

We've had a chocolate cake from Waitrose a few times at work (birthdays and baby showers etc) and it's really good!

It's got stars on it, I can't imagine it's hugely expensive as the managers buy out of their own pocket.

To be fair, their bakery counter does some lovely cakes generally so you can't really go wrong imo.

I bought myself the Waitrose Doodle Dog chocolate birthday cake this year. It was delicious.

Same answer as PP. Got a chocolate cake from Waitrose on Monday for my birthday and everyone that has had a slice said it was the nicest chocolate cake they've had. It cost about £10, fairly big and was in blue packaging.

I got my dh this one for his birthday, we were on holiday at the time and a homemade wouldn't have kept long enough. It was really yummy.

Marks and Spencer's or Waitrose.

The marks and Spencers Chocolate celebration cake. It is fabulous!

The M&S one is lovely! :D

Ooh, thanks everyone for the replies, that's a great help! I'll check them all out. I know you can't please everyone and the kids probably won't care that much but there will be a few adults and we want nice cake Smile

M&S do a couple that have chocolate curls & flakey bits on the top. Go for one that is a proper cake not the tray bake.

Colin the Caterpillar has lovely thick chocolate all round.

liquidrevolution · 20/09/2018 13:25

I found Colin very disappointing tbh.

RiverTam · 20/09/2018 13:28

Me and DH quite like Tesco Curly the Caterpillar but your DS might think it's a bit young? Nice cake though!
