Really random question but what would you do if you knew you were going to get it but didn’t have it quite yet?

The whole family bar me has it. It started at the beginning of the week for ds1. Dh and the other two ds got it overnight. So far touch wood I’m okay. I ‘think’ I feel sick Confused I’m. It sure if it’s me being paranoid and it’s in my head or if it’s real Blush

So anyway what would you do. So far already this morning (I’ve been up since 4) I have showered, charged my kindle, anti bacced the bathroom, door handles and remote controls. Popped a Tena lady on incase I am sicknBlush a load of washing is in.

I’m thinking I need to walk the dogs ASAP as I may not be able to later.
Nip to Tesco in the next town 5 minutes by car and get some of that anti bacterial spray that dettol do and some wipes. I’m
Thinking if I am ill I won’t be following everyone to the loo and cleaning up behind them and this will be the easy way.

Have I missed anything? I probably sound really weird but I suffer from major anxiety which I have medication and therapy for bit it gets so much worse when I’m ill.

I would not have done any of that (I don't have anxiety).
Maybe I'd eat kind of lightly but high in fluids, just knowing it's painful to bring stuff back up & keeping hydrated is priority.

Sounds like you usually get it very awful or just hate it more than most (given that almost everyone loathes vomitting). I can clean up after other people when I'm ill but fair enough if you can't.

36 hours is average incubation period & 36 hours is average duration of symptoms, btw.

Noro is notorious for how you usually fine until about 60 minutes before the first symptom (which is usually vomiting), so I wonder if you feeling 'sick' now is a bit psychosomatic.
Of course may not be noro, could be one of many other undelightful tummy bugs that come on in a different way or last for shorter/longer.

If you've been cleaning the bathroom then you've given yourself the best chance of catching it, in which case I certainly wouldn't go to Tesco as that's a perfect place to pass it on!

Lollypop27 · 20/09/2018 07:13

I haven’t been to Tesco. I didn’t get the chance 🤮

Bless you! For future reference use a cleaner containing bleach for clean ups. IIRC anti bac doesn't kill norovirus. I'm happy to be corrected.

Wolfiefan · 20/09/2018 07:23

I wouldn’t have done any of that. You don’t know it’s norovirus and you don’t know that you will catch it.
Your anxiety is out of control and it isn’t because you are physically ill.

SnuggyBuggy · 20/09/2018 07:26

I managed to get norovirus without my DH getting it. It might not happen. My advice however would be to keep hydrated.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 20/09/2018 07:29

Fingers crossed you won't get it OP. It's missed either me or DH when the dc have it before now.

You've done everything you can.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 20/09/2018 07:29

Oh dear sorry just read your last post.

BananaBonanza · 20/09/2018 07:33

Actually all sounded very sensible to me and I don't suffer from anxiety at all.

Second the bleach. I just put a little neat bleach on a cloth and use that.

Hope you feel better soon.

How are you doing @Lollypop27 ?

I am very impressed by your organisation. Especially the tena lady.

LongSummerDays · 20/09/2018 18:50

Hope you feel better soon, OP.
