Just got a university offer!

Just that really. Just got an unconditional offer to study law.

I have a young daughter, and will be giving up a decent job (35k/year) to do it. Though I hate the job and am unlikely to get anything like that Salary again as no qualifications and limited experience. I have shared custody with my ex. Am I absolutely crazy to take it? It’s in a super cheap city to live in, my parents have offered to pay my rent during and I’d have full student loan and parents learning allowance to live off. We’d be a bit tight for the next 3 years, but by the time DD is in school I could have a pretty good job. Am I crazy to take this?

Please don't tell me you plan on a career in law...

If so, don't do the degree (or at least solely not for the above reason).

How old are you?

Congratulations! Is it a university with a good reputation? You might struggle to reach £35K afterwards if not.

If you lived in another city, how would shared care of your child work?

I am at uni full time. 3 kids, youngest is three. My rent gets paid for me as I'm on a low income. Have you looked into that?

If you are planning on becoming a lawyer/barrister id have a good hard think. It takes years is outrageously competitive and chances of ending up in a dead end paralegal role are high

Brilliant well done you!
I used to work in law firms over my holidays so maybe you could pick up temp work if ever you need this extra income!
Good luck and enjoy it!

That's brilliant! Congratulations and best of luck.

Well done, although to get a good wage in law you'd also need to do law school after your degree
