Sorry, blatantly posting for traffic. Part ex-ing car tomorrow with motor trader - do I sign both sections 8&9 or just 9 of the V5?! Sorry, I’ve read the instructions several times but am still not 100% sure😬

You and motor trader fill in section 9 (the yellow part).

You keep section 9 and give the rest of v5 to the motor trader.

You then need to either post section 9 to DVLA or tell them via the website that you’ve sold the vehicle to a motor trader.

Thanks wilted - just to clarify - I don’t need to sign section 8 as the current reg keeper? Dh is going to do the part ex & pick up so I don’t want them to send him back ‘cause I haven’t done the correct paperwork (it’s a 4 hour round trip!!)

No, you don’t need to do section 8. Just fill in section 9 (which you keep) then give rest of v5 to the trader.
