Dress zips

I usually wear dresses with back zips for work. I really like the style and fit but when I am home alone I really struggle to do/undo them. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had to ask a friend at work to zip me up and a neighbour to unzip me. A number of gadgets are advertised that solve this problem. Do they work?

i would try one lke this. under a fiver, so if it doesn't work then its not a huge amount of money down the drain. can't see why it wouldnt work though.

Thanks for the link. I’ll get one and see if it solves my problem. Less urgent at the moment as my DH has changed shifts and is home when I go to work. So he can zip me up if needed. I still get home before him so do I still go to my neighbour or wait for him. Any thoughts?

I use the magnet off my work name badge to pull it to where I can reach it.

Coat hanger? That's what I usually use if I'm stuck on my own.

HelenR9 · 20/09/2018 15:17

Thanks for the ideas. I’ll try both. Had to go to my neighbour for help again and this time the zip caught in the material of my dress. She couldn’t free it so came home with me and we had to get the dress off over my head still partly zipped. Neither of us could stop laughing but at least she didn’t leave me like that.😂😂 😂 I’ll still try your ideas but don’t think they’ll stop that problem.

Am stuck again. Will try the suggestions but reluctant to go to my neighbour again. She must be getting fed up with me

Got home from work wearing a jumpsuit with a back zip. DH still at work and neighbour out. Will earlier ideas work? I’ll try but may need help

Can you fix a magnet to a wall, about hip height and then shimmy up and down?

TheCrowFromBelow · 09/10/2018 17:40

Helen
You ask this in “what would you do?”
Answer: Stop wearing clothes with zips, for the love of the sweet Lord. Grin
Or do the magnet thing Confused

Lean forward, pull the top of the back of the dress up as far as possible (over head if possible) unzip as much as you can. Pull back off dress back down to normal and you should be able to reach where zipmis now sitting. I never have issues but I am hyper mobile so really bendy.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 27/10/2018 19:37

I'm not particularly bendy but can usually manage using the pulling up and down Fluffy suggested above.

Tie a matching ribbon into the hole on the zip ‘handle’ so that it hands down your back. Easy to reach then!
