Please talk to me if you’ve had a brace as an adult and teeth filing

I’m having a major wobble. I’m booked in to have a top brace fitted soon and I’m worried!

Has anyone had a top metal brace which required teeth to be filed down as well? If so, was it ok and are you pleased with the results.

Also, I’ve been told I’ll need a permanent wire retainer afterwards - any experiences of these would be helpful.

It’s not a perfect solution as I’ve been warned my receding lower jaw Hmm will make my newly straightened teeth look a bit prominent. So I’m really sick of my teeth but wondering if I’m doing the wrong thing.

Help me decide please - go for it or not? Thank you!

I'm just finishing wearing Invisalign braces and had to have space created between my teeth to make room.

I'm really pleased with the results so far.

Having the teeth filed down to create space was probably the least enjoyable part of the process - not painful, just rather unpleasant from a vibration, noise, smell and general awareness perspective but to be fair, it only takes a few seconds per tooth so not a long winded process.

Oh. Thanks for the reply. I was losing hope. I never ever thought about a smell tbh but at least it’s quick.

Invisalign isn’t an option for me unfortunately but that’s what I wanted.
