If you’re on your feet a lot, what shoes do you wear?

I’m committed to my converse but now I’ve added walking to school and back twice a day into my routine I’m clocking up about five miles, sometimes up to eight, and my feet ache by the end of the day.

I’m not that into fashion or anything, so they’d just need to go with my standard uniform of black trousers and a shirt.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I'm on my feet all day at work & wear M&S footglove dolly shoes which are very comfortable & wipe clean easily.

However i wouldn't wear them out of work!

I do walk a lot outside work too & wear trainers in the summer or flattish boots in the winter.

I just wear karrimor walking trainers to work. I am on my feet all day and its often a bit mucky so i need reasonably smart but flexible for lots of bending. They are cheap too - no point my buying anything pricey as they likely to get pissed on.

Sketchers. Converse are too flat. We all wear them for work

New balance. Very comfortable and more support than Cons.

I'm going to lurk here because I need the same advice. I'm suffering from plantar fasciitis at the moment and need some comfortable, supportive shoes that I can wear gel heel pads with. Currently wearing trainers for work but they don't give my arches much support.

I'm on my feet all day at work and wear skechers with memory foam soles. I adore them, paid £40 for them and they have been worth every penny and more. I won't hesitate to buy another pair when these wear out.

I'm now sitting here trying to puzzle out what your job is! Grin

To the OP: Skechers are incredibly comfortable. :-)

A cheap pair of wide toed slip on shoes from asda. They are brilliant and I replace them whenever I have to! Not looking forward to winter and not being able to wear them anymore!

NotUmbongoUnchained · 18/09/2018 19:02

I did a 10 mile cliff walk in my puma trainers the other day and my feet didn’t ache at all. I have 5 pairs now in different colours.

CaptainCallisto · 18/09/2018 19:02

Doc Martens. I have various styles from knee high boots to sandals so I can wear them all year round. I love them. Comfortable, waterproof (except the sandals), and last forever.

PhilomenaButterfly · 18/09/2018 19:12

Sparkly pink trainers from Sainsbury's.

twoheaped · 18/09/2018 19:15

Ecco or Camper shoes.
Great support and comfortable.

I’m on my feet all day (infant teacher). I have DM boots for winter . This summer I had a very cheapo pair of pumps from H&M which were very comfortable. I can’t wear converse for a full day.

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/09/2018 19:25

I have sketchers memory foam dolly style shoes. They are smart, flat and like slippers!

DrMidgeryMargery · 18/09/2018 19:41

Thanks everyone! Having a look at your suggestions now. I’d forgotten all about DMs as well. I’ve got DM boots for winter and they are comfy. Will have a look at their shoes.

Plantar sufferer here.
Birkenstocks in the summer.
Walking shoes in the autumn.
Ugg boots in the winter....

Are you sure some type of compression socks / anti fatigue socks might not help a bit for tired feet & legs? I'm on my feet all day long and they have been a game changer.

Violetroselily · 18/09/2018 21:07

I have 3 different styles of New Balance and I find them all very comfortable

MiddlingMum · 18/09/2018 21:24

I've got a few different pairs of Josef Siebel shoes and they are all really comfortable.

FLY London ankle boots.

earlgreymarl · 18/09/2018 21:46

Hotter shoes / boots have been recommended before, I find Superga really comfy, so much better than converse. I walked 4 miles no socks on after a very long day and was fine !
