The books. Are they any good? Or is it a bit twilight-ish?

I’ve not read the books but I watched the first episode on Sky and am quite intrigued:)

twilightish? yes,
trashy? yes
tacky? yes
feeling of guilt for enjoying it? yes
would pick it apart in a book club? yes
would you read it again? yes

ItslikeNew. Ok I’m sold.

I thought the blonde witch looked very much like Kristen Stewart.

I didn’t think it was like twilight in that the writing is good and the plot has depth. It is still very much about this amazing couple and their star crossed lurve which does grate after a while as everything and everybody is focused on them and how amazing they are. Other than that it’s a good read and I would recommend.

Twilight as it should have been. Book 2 is quite thought provoking!

Knittingteapot · 18/09/2018 18:33

I read them over the summer holidays and they're okay. I enjoyed book 2, but not enough that I would read the trilogy again. They were just a bit boring at times if I'm honest. As a PP said, it's so focused on the main couple that it does start to grate. I think the author comes from an historical background and you can tell by the amount of detail at times, but the story isn't exactly riveting.

I agree, totally bananas. I read them on holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Similar sort of thing to Outlander.
