DH and I are going to Bristol next month to celebrate getting together when I lived there 20 years ago.

We've got dinner both nights sorted but I'm stuck for what to do during the day.

Also- best place for cocktails?

The Bristol Blue Glass factory is interesting. You can take a factory tour, see glass blowing demos from the public viewing gallery or just browse the gallery shop.
Bristol Packet Boat Trips do harbour tours and river cruises.
The BBC Bristol tours are also good fun. www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/tours/bristol

Take a look around the SS Great Britain, the M Shed and the Arnofini gallery. There's also walking tours about graffiti/Banksy. A quick browse around Cabot Circus and Harvey Nichols. Go to the visitor centre at the suspension bridge. Visit the Concorde museum at Filton. Posh lunch at the Ivy (Clifton).
