I tried to top up my gas and electricity it kept my bank card had a problem with it. So after a few attempts I decided to remove my card and re save it to the app. It still wouldn't work.
Yesterday I decided to go to the bank to see if I could take the money out to pay my gas and electricity. The atm said the same thing put that there was a problem with the chip. So I transferred the money into my husband's account and got the money out that way. So there was no problem with the funds in the account.
I got onto my bank to see what has happened to my bank card. Apparently a new one has been sent to me and that it was activated. I haven't received a new card which I told the lady and she said it was activated on the 14th this month do I not recognise? this I said no, i have only got 1 card and that if someone has it they have now got my account number sort code and my address whoever has got my card and activated it.
I told my concern to the lady and she said she has cancelled my card and is sending a new one.
I'm now worrying as I think my post has been put In someone else's door for a few weeks now as I haven't received much post etc.
Is there anything I can do as if this person has all my information they could do it again. And I have also requested a new pin so if that gets posted in the wrong door with my pin and then my card they will have that as well.

I don't know who to get in touch with as the woman wasn't concerned on the phone about my details just said she will cancel the card. But whoever has my card would still be able to have set up direct debits etc. I bank with Barclays.
Do I get in touch with Barclays again or do I see of the royal mail could find out what's gone on.

I think I would speak to the banks fraud department.

Also make sure there is an alert on the account.

Speak to the fraud department.

What bank puts the sort code and account number on the card? I’m with Natwest and this information isn’t on the card.

Sort and account numbers are on tsb cards. They're on cheques, so hardly private.

I had this once. Turned out to be the postman. Spent £2k of our money before we found out.

GPO and Police set him up and he spent 2 years in prison. We weren't the only ones! Worth a chat with Police I'd say!

I'm way late to this thread, but you can ask (in future!) for new bank cards to be delivered to your local branch, and you can collect them in person.

Rain are you getting mixed up with the Account/Sort and PIN?

Account and sort code are routinely printed on all cards.
PINs get sent by separate letter.
