Cheesy! Cheese is always the answer. Yes, always.

LittleMissNaice · 18/09/2018 10:13

Everything is better with cheese

DancingDot · 18/09/2018 10:17

Here is something a little controversial -

Jamie Oliver's healthy fish pie is delicious and very easy...

Fish mixture, grated celery, grated carrot, grated cheese, handful of spinach, some tomatoes in a dish....mix up with some pepper. Top with mashed potato that has been mashed with olive oil. Bang it in the oven and it is amazing. Even the non-fish pie eaters in my house love it...

(No I'm not Jools...or am I??? Grin )

Frozen cauliflower cheese mashed in the spuds.
Delish.

BearSoFair · 18/09/2018 10:25

Always cheesy! Everything is improved with a bit of cheese.

glenthebattleostrich · 18/09/2018 10:27

How is this even a question. Cheese is just perfect.

Pascha · 18/09/2018 10:31

Shit. Now I have to buy cheese...

No cauliflower. That is very wrong. I like the spinac h though.

You knew the answer anyway.

AwdBovril · 18/09/2018 10:35

Nooooo! Never fish with cheese... it's one of the fundamental rules of cooking. It's like having gravy with jam! So much wrong...

MsHomeSlice · 18/09/2018 10:37

I say no cheese for fish pie, but you do need a shitload (yes, that is an actual culinary term!) of butter and cremefraiche in the mash....and ideally chives or very thing slices of spring onion.

Pascha · 18/09/2018 10:43

See, my children will look with suspicion on any green bits in mash. They will then declare it "yukky" and that will be that. I'm not wasting a good hour of my life making a delicious marine banquet only for then to declare it not worth their tastebuds.

Green stuff will include peas and broccoli on the side where they can easily discern what they are.

No cheese. The best fish pie is made with creme frais or cream and a fish stock cube.

mackerella · 18/09/2018 10:50

Plain mash with a little bit of grated cheese on top. (We're having fish pie tonight, actually!)

FlyMaybe · 18/09/2018 10:51

I use a cheese sauce for my fish pie mixture, and put grated cheese on top of the mash. Gorgeous Smile

bakingdemon · 18/09/2018 10:51

Another vote here for all things savoury being improved with the addition of cheese. Now I really want some cheese!

PinkHeart5914 · 18/09/2018 10:53

Cheese eveytime!

Get to the shop lovely....

Littlechocola · 18/09/2018 10:53

I really want fish pie now.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 18/09/2018 10:55

You can’t have cheese with fish Shock

Yy to masses of butter though.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 18/09/2018 12:33

Cote Brasserie Fish Parmentier has cheesy mash, so YES, you can have cheese with fish!

smurfy2015 · 19/09/2018 09:33

Definitely cheesy with plenty of butter thru it

@DancingDot, I like the sound of that, wonders if it would also work with shepherds pie?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 19/09/2018 09:38

I made fish pie this week with cauliflower on top and shed loads of cheese. Expected everyone to hate it but it was a hit! And whilst I love mash the actual peeling and chopping part is so boring and then the washing of the mash pan ...😳. Honestly try cauliflower!
And agreed wholeheartedly that cheese makes everything better. As does bacon.
