Is it worth going to the gym 1 day a week?

I am 6 months postnatal.
Would like to feel fitter, lose weight, tighten things up, see a benefit to my mental health.

Unfortunately I only have one time a week where it would be possible for me to go to the gym. Is it worth going? Will I see a benefit? TIA :-)

You'll not be instantly buff but it's better than never and yes, exercise has mental as well as physical benefits.

If you can squeeze it in, try and get some walking into your week.

Yes, it will be good for you.
You'll probably find yourself doing more exercise in your daily life too.

Combine it with a positive change to your diet and it could certainly be beneficial. You could experiment with the kinds of exercise that work best for you and make up some easy routines to do at home (with simple kit or just body weight) on some other days of the week.

Ok, thanks for the reassuring responses! My diet certainly needs some positive changes too!

Well it's automatically better than going to the gym no days a week, that's for sure. So you are already in a better place!

Start off with it. When you are in the habit look at what bodyweight stuff you can do at home.

Can you make changes on other days as well? Like walking further or taking the stairs.

Primarystress · 18/09/2018 22:14

I can walk instead of taking the bus so that's something...
