Is this GP appointment worthy? (Pictures attached)

I've noticed in the last few months that my nails are getting really rigid and soft. My two thumbs now have really deep dents. I'm also feeling so tired and drained all the time, my periods have also become super painful and heavy. I'm on the implant so didn't have a period for ages, but the last few months I've been bleeding for weeks on end and been in absolute agony.
Trying to get a doctors appointment is like gold dust but I don't know whether it's worth getting one or not??
I've been on the NHS website but I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar thing?

Absolutely go and see your GP!

gamerchick · 17/09/2018 21:32

Yeah you probably should go and get your iron levels checked. Make an appointment.

ImSoExhausted · 17/09/2018 21:35

I have been taking iron supplements, maybe I should up them hahaha
But I'll try and make an appointment, I've seen a few pictures on the NHS website, but none of them are quite the same as mine

Just make that appointment and get seen to.

You need to go and get your bloods checked.

ImSoExhausted · 17/09/2018 22:05

Is it just low iron that could be causing this? I'll ring up in the morning and see when the next available appointment is.
The NHS website said it could be symptom of thyroid issues but I don't know how accurate that is

Well apparently luck (and other cosmic forces) are on my side! I rang my surgery and they had a cancellation at 10am today!

Good luck OP

Had a lovely GP who sent me for many, many blood tests! He said even if they come back normal, he wants to see me again as he's going to refer me for a scan on my ovaries. I'm only mid-twenties (with two children) so I'm not sure what he's thinking there, but it's good to be taken seriously!

Great that they are taking precautions and doing a load of tests. Hopefully it's something easily sorted!

In case anyone comes across this thread in the future, definitely go to the GP with nails like this!
Blood tests came back today, severe anaemia and very low calcium. I have a prescription of high dose folic acid to take for 4 months then they'll recheck.
They want more blood tests for the calcium straight away as they're unsure what's causing that.
Hoping I start to feel more energetic soon, I'm constantly drained and my nails are so much worse!
