Dm and Dsd have announced they are looking at selling up and moving to the south of france. I am really pleased for them as they will release equity and really enjoy their retirement.

BUT

They voted for Brexit!

My Dm literally cited one of her reasons as she doesn't know what will happen to the economy, and she doesn't want to lose value on her house. So she's looking to sell now.

The more I think about it, the more pissed of I get.

What have you said to them?

Oh wow. That's ummm, interesting thinking from them.

They may not be able to claim state pension from there, access health services etc
Do they realise this?

What's the health care situation for non earning, non-EU foreigners in France?

I know two couples who have done exactly this! I cannot get my head around it.

Sadly not close enough to either couple to question them on it without it being weird...

They have their own unwavering views about leaving the EU. We tend to disagree so we don't talk about it much. This announcement from them is their own. They also don't seem to understand the irony. Don't get me wrong, I love the pair of them. Just a bit, well.... Wtf?

Now is a shit time to move to France because of Brexit. I have friends who lived there for years who are worried they will have no rights and be sent home. They also get their pension in sterling and have been slammed since june 16.

So this is literally a plan made out of the blue, because they think Brexit will ruin Britain?

Are they part of the group who regret their vote?

Or did they maybe have an idea about moving to France before? This is all very confusing.
