No idea, but mine always starts rabbiting on about iHeart radio whenever I ask it to play Heart Radio!

AdorableMisfit · 17/09/2018 16:59

Dunno, but mine does that too and it's bloody annoying!

Because Alexa is a shithead useless doofus.
Not helpful sorry.

Have you tried using a streaming site and going via that? (We use spotify, well dc do. I've given up completely)

I ask for 'BBC radio 4' and it plays a little ident jingle that just says 'bbc radio 4', then stops. I have to specify 'bbc radio 4 from tune in ' to get it to play the sodding station.

I’ve never had it before but today without fail she is playing a different version. I am trying through Spotify either through the Dot or through the Sonos. She even says the correct song and artist but then proceeds to play a different version. The fact that she’s doing it every time makes me wonder if it’s a setting in either Alexa or Spotify.

These are songs that I have asked for before that have played fine. I just tried with Oasis and Coldplay and still playing cover or instrumental versions.

Amazon music - which I think is where Alexa gets her music from, does tend to give you cover versions of a lot of songs if you aren't careful when downloading.
Tis very annoying.

Its one of the reasons ours got unplugged and shoved in a drawer sonewhere.

kenandbarbie · 17/09/2018 17:28

Coz instrumental versions are usually longer so take up more time and so they have to pay less altogether when multiplied by everyone's Alexa's. You need to save the version you want in my music, Alexa will play the right one then.
