Travelling with an 11 week old

Babbaganoush · 17/09/2018 15:12

We are going on holiday to Spain in a couple of weeks with our son who will be 11 weeks old.

I just wondered if anyone had any tips for making the trip as stress free and enjoyable as possible? We are staying in a self catering apartment in a resort that we've stayed in many times before. Also he is exclusively breastfed.

Thanks!

This is a great time to go away :) too early for the 4 month sleep regression, no babyproofing or weaning mess, not even any faffing with bottles :)

Get a sling for the airport, a foldable changing mat, and a nice soft blanket so you can lie your baby on the apartment floor. Do you know how hot it will be?

If you are breastfeeding then it will be a doddle! A sling is great for the airport and when ds1 was 12w the pilot let me have him in the sling on the plane rather than using a lap belt for him.

Put baby to breast for going up and down - saves the ears. Nappies can be bought in Spain. Go for dinner and lunch just after a feed. It is the best time to travel with a baby. Have fun. Remember as long as he is flat he can sleep anywhere so you can just do the usual holiday jaunts except the all nighters maybe Grin

Nothing needed for an 11wk old other than you. Which is why it’s so easy (or no different) to be anywhere with an 11wk old.

We went to mallorca at that age it was lovely and she started sleeping through (short lived unfortunately). Look for lots of places you can go for walks. Enjoy lunches when baby sleeping

Thanks all. Glad everyone is positive about travelling with a baby at this age...we booked it when he was 3 days old at about 4am during a moment of madness Grin

Presumably you've got the passport? But otherwise very easy time to go. I'd definitely take a comfortable sling for the airport.

Babbaganoush · 17/09/2018 18:43

Haha yes we have the passport Smile
