Hi

Wonder if anyone is from Bradford/knows Bradford.

I am about to lose my home and have just been offered a housing association house in BD4. It's either take the house or private rental and on my salary I can't afford private rent however my dd is now a young adult so no need to worry 're schools.

I am terrified. I currently live near Bradford not in it and the place looks grim. It's on the edge of a housing estate.

Really what I'm trying to say is would I be safe i don't have many other options.

Not to be rude here but you have no choice please stop trying to find the negatives in the area otherwise the only thing you'll succeed in doing is scaring yourself during an already stressful and hard time. Take the house your lucky to be given one move in and see what you can do to improve your situation and hopefully eventually move somewhere better.

I used to work in Bradford. Bits are pretty grim. But BD4 is not the worst part. This gives some interesting info.

Housing association house sounds like a great offer given your circumstances.

I assume you’ve been offered on the edge of Holmewood? It’s actually not too bad as estates go, neither are the surrounding estates. There’s pretty good transport links, good coverage for GP surgeries, plenty of choice of supermarkets etc. What area are in you currently?

I will as born and brought up in BD4 and it is not the worst part of the city by a long shot! (Not the best either but hey). The schools in the area are fine and none of my friends kids who go to them have had any issues. If you are stuck for choices and this is all you can get then it looks like you don't have much choice but honestly it's not that bad

Thanks so much.

All I can say is that right now I live in a very naice area outside of Bradford!
My dd has long ago left school so no worried there.

Yes it is on outskirts of Homewood and yes I am scared, i also had another offer of a flat in bd7. As far as offers go that's it so if I refuse I would say private rental I can't afford at all or house in bd4 or flat bd7.

I am extremely grateful for the offers my life has been turned upside down and I will have to take one or the other.

I do work though and even the sniggers of colleagues will be hard, as people seem to want to move out not in. It's like I'm advertising things are bad if you see what I mean.

If you're foolish enough to risk homelessness due to your own, inverted snobbery and fear of workmates looking down their nose at you then on your own head be it !!

Do some research by all means but for goodness sake don't worry about keeping up appearances.

True baby I have to take it I just don't know Bradford or the area and that's scary
