Finding out of someone is still alive?

Does anyone know if there's a way of accessing death records online? I know the person's full name, date and place of birth etc. It's my father who estranged himself years ago and he no longer seems to be registered at the address that he has lived at for 20 years. (I check occasionally, he doesn't want to keep in contact with me).

I needed a date of death when I applied for my grandmothers death cert. I don't know if there is another way to search.

Possibly a stupid question but have you googled him? There may be a local news story or something. Also worth googling his friends if you know any of their names, in case they've written something on social media

You can search birth, marriage and death records online. Free BMD doesn’t cover the last 20 years, but Ancestry.co.uk goes up to 2005. I’m not sure how you can search for anything more recent, unfortunately, but someone else might.
