Getting my nails done

I've always bitten my nails but recently stopped whilst pregnant. I've been thinking about getting them done. I think I want gel nails? Is that what it's called? What's shellac? I've literally got no idea, and don't want to make myself look stupid going to the nail bar.

I also have really stumpy index and middle finger nails. Do you think having my nails done will look okay?!

I think it’ll look lovely as your nails are a nice length! Shellac is the same as a gel manicure, or in some places it’s called Gelish... I’d just ask for a gel manicure. You’ll get loads of colours to choose from and a normal manicure with your cuticles pushed back etc. then when they put the polish on it’ll be ‘cured’ under a UV lamp where you put each hand in for a minute. The end result will be super shiny and will last 2-3 weeks. Enjoy!
