If you had a whole day by yourself, what would you do?

I'm a bit lost for something to do. For the first time in forever, I'm all alone without DC or DP to keep me busy. I have a whole day (well, 8hrs or so) to do whatever I want! But I have no idea what to do with myself. What would you do?

I’m an introvert so quite happy pottering around the house enjoying the alone time and space without other people around. I wouldn’t go out and miss the opportunity to be alone!

dudsville · 17/09/2018 08:38

Another introvert here. I'd take the opportunity to to quiet!

Cheesymonster · 17/09/2018 08:38

I would go to the cinema and have a long leisurely lunch all by myself.

Smurfybubbles · 17/09/2018 08:42

Nice long bath, exfoliate, paint my nails, have a nap, watch a movie DH wouldn't watch with me, nap again, did I mention nap, pop into town and spend as long as I like in whatever shops I want, stop for a nice coffee and a bit of cake. BLISS!

Think back to what made you happy pre DC and go do that whatever it is Grin

Thesearmsofmine · 17/09/2018 08:44

I’d start with a cup of tea, a packet of chocolate digestives and a book.

JLG19 · 17/09/2018 08:46

I love all the naps, Smurfybubbles. I don't get out much during the week with DC so feel I shouldn't "waste" my day off, but there's nothing like a lazy day at home without having to worry about anyone else. Mat leave finishes soon, so that won't be much of an option in a few weeks time... 😏

Id go visit a local spa. But have any treatments, but just relax by the pool all day.
Enjoy

GrumpySausage · 17/09/2018 08:48

I've kinda got one of those days today as DS is at Nursery for the first time and DD is only 12 weeks so relatively quiet.

I'd just sit in silence for a bit and read a book. I love my family but I'm an only child and I crave solitude and silence sometimes.

I'd also catch up on all the trashy tv I can't watch with DS around.

But instead I've booked in every doctors/Dentist/hair appointment I can so I don't have to drag DS along! Next week 🤞🏼

Whole day by myself? I call those Sundays. They happen every week. Some Saturdays are like that too. I just do whatever.

IJustLostTheGame · 17/09/2018 09:04

Read
Bathe
Shit telly
Cinema
Play super mario 3 on our newly rediscovered SNES. I was going to eBay it, not ensure now.
Re-sort all the cupboards.

Bimgy85 · 17/09/2018 09:07

I love going for a nice lunch/coffee by myself while listening to music or reading mumsnet then going for a stroll around shopping alone, checking out charity shops, libraries etc!

formerbabe · 17/09/2018 09:09

I'd clean the house and do the ironing...sad but true!

HeyThoughIWalk · 17/09/2018 09:48

I'd like to think I'd read, tidy, do some craft and go for a good walk. What I'd actually do is panic about wasting the day, and then waste the day panicking.

Noboozeforme · 17/09/2018 10:09

I regularly get days and sometimes weeks to my self (kids are older).

Doing nothing isn't a crime or a waste if a day ! Just relax, potter about, read or watch a film.. but most of all enjoy it without feeling guilty !

liverbird79 · 17/09/2018 10:18

Tidy up and out everything away as I can't relax till everything is tidy and then relax on the sofa or our bed.

Netflix, nice picky bits lunch, start my new book.

Partner is away tonight so I'm tidying today then me and the baby are having an early night with Disney and me reading my new book on the sly.

Lenska999 · 17/09/2018 10:32

I’ve got a whole day today, I go back to work next week after mat leave...I’m currently snuggled in my bed. Might just stay here all day!

Lynne1Cat · 17/09/2018 10:35

I have days to myself every Monday and Thursday. Today I had my breakfast, a shower, etc., then watched "Frasier", put the washing on the line.

Next - hoovering and then shopping for shoes.
Picking up my sister-in-law and going for lunch later.
Seeing a friend when she leaves work.
Meeting another friend for Zumba tonight.

JLG19 · 17/09/2018 11:04

I've had a little browse of the charity shops and now having a bite to eat in Costa (the naice cafe I wanted to go to is closed!) then will read here for a bit, before I go home and do nothing Grin

I tidied up, so I didn't have to look at child related mess. And then I watched 5x episodes of non-child friendly tv back to back, and read my book. It was blissful 😁 enjoy the rest of your day!

liverbird79 · 17/09/2018 18:23

What are you doing op, I've just sat down with a wine and the tv remote Smile

Oblomov18 · 17/09/2018 18:53

I'm surprised you need to ask. I regularly have days to myself, always have done and have done most things on this thread: from staying in bed, to spa day and most other stuff in between.

GrumpyOldMare · 17/09/2018 19:15

Get the housework and shopping done. Then if time,I'll find something else to do like read a book or go for a walk.
