Can you help me find this book?

I’m trying to find a book I had as a child and would really appreciate your help.

It was about a little girl who lived on a farm probably set 1930 ish? The chapter I remember most clearly is about Christmas on the farm- there was a huge description of all the food, hanging hams all that sort of thing. And the little girl only liked saying “Merry Christmas” as she thought “Happy Christmas” sounded too weak...

Not much to go on!

The Country Child by Alison Uttley. I loved it too. It has a sequel called The Farm on the Hill.
